The 4th and final session of the main book, 1 Premier 2014 Magic Millions Yearling Sales concluded on Saturday evening and we were delighted to have added another fabulous yearling to the team and thus ensure a fantastic crop of racing stock to run in the Dynamic Syndications colours well into the future.
The main sale has concluded with a total of 521 lots selling with an average price of $144,125 (2013 $136,172) and a median price of $120,000 (2013 $105,000) and a massive 87% clearance rate.
However this was helped along by the big two stables going head to head with Team Waterhouse combining to buy 54 yearlings and Team Waller combining to buy 29, between them taking out 83 of the 521 lots to sell which is 16% of the market.
Having already purchased 6 wonderful yearlings over the previous 3 days, we had just 5 lots of interest remaining on the final night and two to come in session 5 on Sunday. The way the sale had been unfolding, we remained hopeful of other buys in sessions 4 and 5 but we were not prepared to chase the market.
As fate would unfold, we did buy a stunning yearling and took our total to 7 yearlings for an overall spend of $595,000, at an average of $85,000.
With just 6 lots left to sell in the final 4th session, we swooped. It was a fantastic way to end a wonderful main sale for Team Dynamic.
We purchased Lot 657 from Coolmore Stud for a $125,000. A magnificent Bay Filly by FASTNET ROCK x PRETTY FLAMINGO foaled 30 September 2012.
Many readers may remember it was just last year that we purchased the first foal from this same mare - she was by ENCOSTA DE LAGO and has been named LAGONDA. We're delighted with the way she has come to hand to date.
When the books arrived upon our desks several weeks ago, we noted that this 1/2 sister by FASTNET ROCK had been catalogued very late in this sale. We hoped by that stage, most professional buyers had been set for their orders and there may be a chance to secure this delightful filly for a good price.
However not in our most optimistic dreams did we consider that breeding juggernaut Coolmore Stud would meet the market and we would be able to buy her at such a luxury price. We had appraised her at a value of $200,000 plus, which would be beyond our price ceiling. Our vet Dr John Walker advised us that she would be a terrific buy if we can get her and that she was clean on pre-sale x-ray inspections. Also our bloodstock expert Gary Mudgway rated the filly very highly and was strongly supporting us to have a good crack at getting her. To purchase her at $125,000 was a wonderful surprise and we thank Coolmore Stud for meeting the market and not passing her in.
This filly is as good as it gets.
By a champion sire, who now stands at $275,000 service fee ($132,000 the year this filly was conceived).
He has a Runners : Earners Strike Rate of 94.8%
He has a Runners : Winners Strike Rate of 65.9%
He has a Runners : Stakes Performers Strike Rate of 16.2%
Our filly's dam PRETTY FLAMINGO set a record price for a Weanling when she sold for $625,000.
Her dam MILANOVA set a record price for a broodmare when Coolmore Stud paid $5 million at auction. She is a Stakes Winning and multiple Gr1 placed Danehill mare who is a full sister to champion NORTHERN HEMISPHERE based sire HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR.
Coolmore exported MILANOVA to Ireland where she has now been bred on 5 occasions to champion sire GALLILEO. As a result, this family is on the move and is offering outstanding upside to future stakes winners being produced, to continue increasing the value of the family.
Our filly is bred on the highly successful
DANEHILL x MORE THAN READY cross (coincidentally - the same cross that produced Saturday's Magic Millions Winner Unencumbered).
This pedigree was rated
the ultimate A+++ and was rated into the Best Of Sale category.
More Than Ready mares are proving a smash hit at stud and it would not surprise to see the sire become champion broodmare sire to match his deeds as a champion sire.
Now remains our biggest dilemma - which champion trainer do we send her too ?
That will be decided shortly after the sale concludes.
We have interest in 2 yearlings heading through the sale ring in Book 2 session 5 on Sunday and we wait to see if either or both will become Dynamic.
Stay Tuned !
