Top trainer Darren Smith had our horse looking a picture of health and cherry ripe for his assignment. From the day we returned him from the spelling paddock this preparation, we had planned for this race on the 1st day of the Newcastle Cup Carnival as a race we would very much like to win being on his home track at their most important meeting of the year. So we set about mapping a programme for him to be ready on the day.

Congratulations to Darren Smith our Dynamic trainer, for getting it spot on allow us to achieve our result.
Ridden a treat by Nash Rawillier, Savage Blaze jumped well from barrier 1 and went forward for the first 100m before a couple of runners rolled across, allowing Nash to get the perfect sit one back the fence.
As the field left the straight the first time, Savage Blaze settled beautifully and lobbed along being rated to perfection by Nash.
By the time they had reached the 1000m mark, the leader had skipped away and Nash found himself back in 5th spot, 10 lengths off the pace. Nash just rolled off the fence at that stage into the one out position to ensure he didn’t get boxed in and then, as they started to approach the home turn, Nash swung Savage Blaze off the heels of those tired ones in front.
Savage Blaze now out in the centre with clear running room, hit the front at the 300m and set sail for home with the favourite Planet Purple in pursuit. The two horses sat down to a tough finish, with the strength and class of Nash keeping Savage Blaze going to fight off a determined runner up.
After the race Nash reported that “he was a lovely horse who kept going when the fight was on. He had a good run in transit and the horse was tough and courageous. It was a good win.”
Savage Blaze became Dynamic Syndications
5th winner of the season and our
second winner within the week, hot on the heels of Specific Choice’s gallant debut win. Savage Blaze also recorded
Dynamic Syndications 293rd winner since October 2005.
Congratulations to all involved.
