It never ceases to amaze me just how good Encosta De Lago is as a sire.
He is one of few Australian sires that is currently standing at stud whose progeny can win races both here in Australia and overseas.
Encosta De Lago - A Dynamic Sire
In the last week, Encosta De Lago has sired winner in Hong Kong, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
Many sires do not achieve 5 winners in a seven day period in one country but to do it in four separate countries is something that is truly amazing.
2012 has been another good year for this champion sire who just continues to produce big results on the racetrack.
This year he has produced another two Group 1 winners on the track and copious amounts of other stakes winning horses.
One of his two individual Gr1 winners have come in Delago Deluxe who is now a dual Gr1 winner in South Africa after he won the Golden Horse Casino Sprint at Scottville in late May.

However the second horse, who is an individual that is turning heads and really showing the strength of Encosta De Lago this year, is located on the island of Hong Kong.
An Encosta De Lago ex Miss Helga gelding by the name of Liberator is quickly becoming a champion stayer on this little island in Asia that is obsessed with all things racing.
Late last month, Liberator came out and claimed the Gr1 Champions and Chater Cup over 2400m, the final leg of the Hong Kong Triple Crown beating horse such as Caulfield and Melbourne Cup runner, Mr Medici and Hong Kong horse of the year, Ambitious Dragon.

This is a stunning achievement for this 4yo gelding produced by Coolmore Stud who is still only early in his career.
Buying from the big breeders such as Coolmore has massive advantages as they recognise the most successful crosses in breeding and put them together in an effort to give their clients top results.
Coolmore once again recognised the huge number of stakes winners that have been produced through the Encosta De Lago - Alzao cross and purposely bought Irish mare, Miss Helga to be purely bred to Encosta De Lago in Australia.
It is a pedigree littered with Black Type results and what makes it more exciting is that we currently have the full sister to Liberator which we are due to start syndicating shortly.
Our own Encosta De Lago - Miss Helga filly - full sister to Liberator
With the recent success of Liberator, and the previous success of Pink Siris (A Melbourne winner and stakes places full sister), we are extremely exciting and hopeful for this lovely filly.
Our filly, which will be trained by Sydney’s # 1 Trainer, Chris Waller will now always be the full sister to a Gr1 winner and a full sister to another stakes placed horse.
The potential breeding value has absolutely skyrocketed since we purchased her at the Inglis Easter Yearlings sales and this is before she has even got to the track.
We also have another striking Encosta colt, an Encosta De Lago ex Petta Gaye colt, also to be trained by Chris Waller which will be up for syndication shortly.

All in all, Encosta is a sire that just keeps doing the job at stud and we have two more potential champions that you could potentially race with Dynamic.
