A winner of 3 Group 1 races and but for
FRANKLE he’d have won 3 more !
Excelebration during a stellar racing career was crowned:
Champion 3YO Miler in Germany in 2011. Champion Older Male Miler in France & GB in 2012.
Promising young sire
EXCELEBRATION produced a trio of smart maiden winners in Britain over the last couple of days to bring the number of runners from his first crop to have won or been placed to
38 (
14 Winners &
24 Placed from
48 2yo runners).
On Saturday, debutant
Barney Roy, who is out of a Galileo mare, strode clear in the closing stages of a 1600m maiden to win impressively by an ever-widening margin of 3 ¾ lengths. Trained by leading conditioner Richard Hannon, the well-regarded colt was ridden by stable rider Sean Levey who commented post-race; “Barney Roy worked really well early doors and we thought he´d be a classy type. He had some good time off, and grew into his frame, and he’s been working well at home.”
The same afternoon, champion trainer Mark Johnston sent out
Celestation to capture a 1400m maiden. The well-bred filly, who is a close relative of high-class stayer Sans Frontieres, made all and sped away in the closing stages to win by a decisive 1 ¼ length margin.
Then on Monday, two year-old filly
Party Tiger shed her maiden tag over 1200m for leading trainer Richard Fahey.
The wins for
Barney Roy, Celestation and Party Tiger come hot on the heels of further wins last week for other progeny of Excelebration in
Inner Smile and Tara Celeb. The latter in particular looks destined for better things having stylishly retained her unbeaten record when scoring over 1200m.
They join the likes of
Pellucid (2 wins inc Dick Poole Fillies S., Gr3 - Newbury) ,
Ultimate Avenue, Natalie Express and Jeu Celebre as exciting prospects from the first crop of their three-time Gr.1 winning sire.
The first southern hemisphere crop of Excelebration are now two year-olds and amongst them is
FEMTOMETRE. In training with Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott for the Dynamic Syndications Team,
FEMTOMETRE 2yo Filly by EXCELEBRATION ex NUCLEAR FORCE
she is a ¾ quarter sister to the high-class multiple stakes winning colt
DEFCON.
