Chain Shot won the first 2yo heat of the new racing season at Rosehill when taking out a 900 metre heat on Tuesday.
Only three new season babies contested the opening juvenile heat of the season with the
Foxwedge colt taking on two fillies, Wah Tootsie, a daughter of Myboycharlie and Magic By Design, a daughter of Master Of Design.
Wah Tootsie was the first of the trio to leave the barriers and led in the trial from Chain Shot, ridden by Hugh Bowman, with Magic By Design settling at the tail with the three inexperienced gallopers travelling in single file.
Rounding the home turn, Wah Tootsie hung out from the rail presenting a run for Chain Shot to its inside.
Chain Shot strode to the front with 300 metres to run and was comfortably holding Wah Tootsie until the colt shied at the infield semaphore board however on the line maintained a narrow margin with Magic By Design wandering in third.
Chain Shot covered the 900 metres in 56 seconds and on the line was holding a nose margin over Wah Tootsie with 2-1/2 lengths back to Magic By Design.
Chain Shot is out of the imported mare Spinnaker (GB) a daughter of Nashwan and was purchased for $95,000 at the
Magic Millions Yearling Sale in January.

The fact that a
FOXWEDGE won the first 2yo trial of the season should not be a surprise to many as the young sire was the
Highest Ever rated speed son of his own sire FASTNET ROCK.
Foxwedge was the stallion astute buyers wanted the progeny of at the 2015 yearling sales.
A magnificent type,
FOXWEDGE has stamped his stock and we are eagerly awaiting the balance of the early 2yo trials and early 2yo races as there seems little doubt the
Newgate Farm stallion is set to make a big splash onto the Australian racing scene.
Dynamic Syndications purchased 2 magnificent FOXWEDGE fillies at this year’s yearling sales.
A filly from the mare POLITE (USA) that was syndicated with GAI WATERHOUSE.
The other is out of the mare DE LAGO LASS.
Our filly is a ¾ sister to last season’s Champion First Season Sire ROTHESAY placed with GERALD RYAN who trained ROTHESAY to win at Gr2 level.
SPRING is in the air !
The next few weeks promises to be exciting for everyone that follows the Sport Of Kings.
