The time has arrived! It’s the commencement of the 2yo races for the new season with the Gimcrack Stakes (fillies) and the Breeder Plate (colts & geldings) set to be contested at Randwick.
Melbourne will also get amongst the action as Flemington hosts the Herald Sun SuperRacing Stakes for 2yos. Unlike the Sydney event, the colt and geldings will take on the fillies in the one event but no matter where you are watching, we are set for some cracking racing action.
These races are always watched with much interest as it gives an early indication on what we may see emerge as the leading 2yo sire over the coming season. We may even be watching the 2013 Golden Slipper winner amongst this lot but we all wait in anticipation to see these babies develop for Autumn racing.
In Sydney, there are a combined total of 25 acceptances across both the Gimcrack Stakes and the Breeders Plate in Sydney whilst in Melbourne we see 10 individuals set to contest the Herald Sun SuperRacing Stakes.
An interesting point that we have noted is the vast amount of sires represented in the three juvenile races. All up there are an astonishing 25 different sires represented. Exceed And Excel leads the way with 5 horses accepted with More Than Ready coming a close 2nd with 4 runners. Choisir, Fastnet Rock, Not A Single Doubt and Murtajill all have 2 entries while another 19 stallions have one runner each.
Here at Dynamic we will be watching Charge Forward’s only representation, Direct Charge, very closely as he is a half-brother to our undefeated colt, Specific Choice. We expect big things of our magnificent colt and it would be no surprise to see his half-brother run nicely on debut.
Our colt Specific Choice will have his half brother, Direct Charge go around on Saturday
What is more extraordinary upon close examination of the sires, is that we only see one first season sire in the acceptances (Murtajill) across the two states. There were nominations for both Myboycharilie and Northern Meteor but surprisingly none for the favourite to take the first season sire crown in Sebring.
Out in front with the most nominations it is no surprise to see champion 2yo sire for the past three seasons, Exceed and Excel.
Exceed and Excel has become synonymous with the Dynamic Syndications brand after Reward for Effort won the Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes as a 2yo.
Exceed and Excel and Dynamic have a great history
The Peter Moody trained Reward for Effort is the only Gr1 winning son of Exceed and Excel over 1200m anywhere in the world, a record that Dynamic are proud to have.
Exceed and Excel is a truly remarkable sire when it comes to juveniles boasting impressive achievements including being a champion first season sire and winning three consecutive 2yo stallion titles.
Another familiar Dynamic sire is the brilliant More Than Ready who has the second most entries for the three Listed races on Saturday.
More Than Ready has 4 runners accepted and has proved time and time again that he is a top quality sire. The list of black type winners by More Than Ready seems never ending having produced well over 100 stakes winners including Gr1 Golden Slipper winner Phelan Ready, Gr1 Blue Diamond winner Samaready and Gr1 Goodwood Handicap winner Perfectly Ready.
An interesting note is that the third Gr1 winner on the list of impressive gallopers above is a full brother to a recent Dynamic Syndications purchase.
The Gr1 and 3 time stakes winning colt Perfectly Ready was beautifully bred by More Than Ready out of Danehill Mare, Elle Duccio. This makes him a full brother to our purchase at this year’s Magic Millions sales earlier in 2011.
Gr1 winner Perfectly Ready is a full brother to our More Than Ready colt
Our colt which had an introduction to the Gerald Ryan stables in July has been named Unadulterated and is showing plenty of promise. He is an extremely exciting prospect for all involved and is gearing up for a return to Rosehill for his second preparation. The aim for this impeccably bred juvenile will be to qualify for the Magic Millions race series on the Gold Coast in January of 2013.
These two sires, Exceed and Excel and More Than Ready, have consistently performed amongst the top stallions each year and is a key reason why we here at Dynamic continue to invest in them.
Even though we have not aimed a runner at these early 2yo races this season, we will be watching on with a close eye to see the outcomes.
Stay tuned to the website for more news on our current crop that we are hopeful of racing in the big 2yo events later on in season 2012-13.
