Super impressive young First Crop Sire
FOXWEDGE racked up a Baker’s Dozen when he sired his 13th Individual Winner on Saturday at Rosehill when obviously talented filly
FOXPLAY opened her account with a dominant display as a short priced favourite.
FOXWEDGE
Fifth on debut in the Group 3 ATC Widden Stakes on January 30 and then fourth in a strong maiden at Canterbury won by subsequent Group 2 winner Kiss and Make Up,
FOXPLAY showed she was back and in good form with a stylish first up second at Warwick Farm on June 1.
Stepping out to 1350 metres for the juvenile event and ridden expertly by Hugh Bowman,
FOXPLAY was super professional in parking just outside the leader.
She skipped away over the final furlong to win with authority by three lengths going away.
She’s always shown to be a talented filly and it’s only been bad luck, lack of experience or finding one better that have kept her out, but she put it all together.
A $160,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newgate Farm draft, bred by SF Bloodstock, FOXPLAY is the third winner from three foals to race from imported stakes-winner Butters (USA), a daughter of leading sire El Prado from the family of Group 1 Breeders Cup Juvenile winner Eliza.
FOXPLAY is the
eighth Southern Hemisphere bred winner (6 in Australia) for Newgate Farm’s foundation sire Foxwedge and is his
13th winner overall.
A Group 1 winning son of Fastnet Rock, Foxwedge stands this spring at a fee of $22,000.
No Australian first crop sire has more Southern Hemisphere bred winners on the scoreboard than Foxwedge.
Dynamic Syndications and Gerald Ryan have a fabulous FOXWEDGE FILLY from UNDERCOVER available for syndication at $5,995 per share.
Foxwedge progeny are expected to be at their best as 3yo’s and older so for the sire to be making this impact is very promising for his stock in the future.
