Beautifully bred two-year-old filly
Sempre Libera booked herself a start for day two of The Championships with a powerful victory in the McGrath Estate Agents Handicap 2YO NMW (1200m) at Rosehill on Wednesday.
VANCOUVER
Trained by Gai, the filly is by the same sire as her recent Golden Slipper winner Vancouver.
Sempre Libera looks a racetrack star in the making. The
Medaglia d’Oro filly overcame a wide gate that saw her trapped 3 deep without cover throughout, to score with authority and will now head to the
$500,000 Group 3 Percy Sykes (1200m) at Randwick on April 11.
"She’s a lovely filly with plenty of scope,” Gai’s foreman
Mark Newnham said.
"Gai’s had a big opinion of her right the way through and she’s earned a shot at group company after that win today.”
Sempre Libera came from midfield and wide on the turn to score by a half-length with Josh Parr in the saddle.
Sempre Libera has a
Golden Slipper pedigree – her mother
Merlene won the Golden Slipper in 1996.
Gai is a huge fan of the Medaglia D’oro breed and certainly
Gai is aware of the affinity the Champion Sire has with Danehill line broodmares.
VANCOUVER is out of Skates – a daughter of Danehill whilst SEMPRE LIBERA is out of Merlene - a daughter of Danehill.
NOSTRADAMUS winner of the San Domenico is out of Leone Chiara a grand-daughter of Danehill.
Dynamic Syndications and Gai combined at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale to purchase a stunning yearling filly by the stallion MEDAGLIA D’ORO from the Group 2 Winner TRICK OF LIGHT – a grand-daughter of Danehill.
MEDAGLIA D'ORO / TRICK OF LIGHT Filly
Therefore she too is
bred on the same cross as VANCOUVER, NOSTRADAMUS and Gai’s exciting new prospect
Sempre Libera.
Shares are selling very strongly in this filly and with Gai’s affinity with the sire and the strength of the filly and the depth of her pedigree she is a wonderful racing prospect and will always maintain excellent residual value.
