Golden Slipper Nominations received

The first round of Golden Slipper nominations for the 2012/2013 racing series have been released with 11 Dynamic horses among them and their sires also having large numbers represented.

Interestingly enough, the numbers are down on last year when 2,012 rising two year-olds were nominated, however only 1,674 have been paid up this year. This is a drop of 338 nominations or 16.8%.

Among the Dynamic contingent, we have nominated the four that are currently up for Syndication as well as our COMMANDS – MAKING FEY filly, a half-sister to Gr1 winning 2yo, APERCU.

COMMANDS progeny has 48 horses nominated for the race which is almost identical to the number he had last year.

This season’s Golden Slipper winner, PIERRO, who is by champion sire LONHRO has 44 nominated, 11 down on last year, including our own LONHRO – FINE SOCIETY filly to be trained by CHRIS WALLER.

Once again current boom sire, FASTNET ROCK, tops the list with 96 of his progeny nominated, up from 90 last seasons despite the total numbers being down almost 17% down on last year.

We have nominated our own FASTNET ROCK – JEWEL OF THE NILE filly for the most expensive 2yo race in the world.

Our filly is a full sister to PEARL OF THE SEA, who ran 4th in two big 2yo races, the Gr1 Champagne Stakes and the LR Fernhill Handicap.

Shares in her are available however she is 75% sold so you must get in quick to secure a share in this extremely well bred filly.

The most interesting of the major nominations comes in a first season sire for next year being NORTHERN METEOR who has a total of 88 nominations making it the second most well represented sire.

NORTHERN METEOR had no more than a trial during his two year old career however he proved he was an absolute speedster as a 3yo and the reports are coming in thick and fast that his progeny could be even better.

We purchased two of NORTHERN METEOR’S highly anticipated progeny at the Magic Millions sale on the Gold Coast in January of this year.

The first is a colt out of the beautifully bred but unraced VILLA VALENCIA and the second is a superb filly bred for 2yo speed out of the mare, COMEDY CLUB.

Both of these have broken in wonderfully with the boys at the farm saying that the COMEDY CLUB filly was extremely eye catching.

She is currently up for Syndication and is due to be trained by Australia’s leading trainer, PETER MOODY at his Caulfield Stables.

Also among the nominations was MORE THAN READY who had 61 represented including our colt out of ELLE DUCCIO to be trained by GERALD RYAN.

EXCEED AND EXCEL had 53 nominations including our EXCEED AND EXCEL- SHOOT THE STARS colt which will look to follow in the footsteps of former Dynamic EXCEED AND EXCEL colt, REWARD FOR EFFORT by racing in the Blue Diamond and the Golden Slipper.

We have 2 ENCOSTA DE LAGO’S nominated among his 46 being the MISS HELGA filly and the PETTE GAYE Colt.

Finally our NOT A SINGLE DOUBT – SUTTON REVIEW colt, the Apache Cat lookalike, is among his 31 nominations for NOT A SINGLE DOUBT and our MAGIC ALBERT - BADINOV’S BABE colt has joined 7 of his progeny to be nominated.

We hope to see some of these rising 2yo’s coming through and hopefully one stepping forward to win the Golden Slipper with Dynamic colours on their back in April of next year. Having won the Golden Slipper in 2003 with POLAR SUCCESS it would be nice to win the race again on our 10th anniversary of that wonderful victory.
