775 lots have been selected for the
2014 William Inglis & Son Melbourne Premier Sale.
Dynamic Syndications will be at the sale searching for more Group 1 success amongst the lots in this high quality catalogue.
“It is certainly encouraging that year after year the quality keeps improving, but what is additionally pleasing is to see the horse’s sold at the sale match the sale ring results,” Peter Heagney - Inglis Director said.
In the last ten years the stakes winners to lots sold ratio from Melbourne Premier has risen 44%. “We are now offering twice as many yearlings, but the sale is producing nearly three times are many stakes winners,” Peter stated.
Graduates that won at the elite level in 2013 include:
• Black Caviar –World’s Equal Highest Rated Racehorse for 2013. Undefeated winner of 25 races, including 15 Group 1s.
• Stepitup – Singapore’s Champion Three-Year-Old elect. Winner of eight of 11 starts
• Fawkner – Caulfield Cup winner
• Escado – South Australian Derby winner
• Costa Viva – New Zealand One Thousand Guineas winner
• Sertorious – Zipping Classic winner
• Arinosa – Sapphire and Premiere Stakes winner
• Dylan’s Promise – Clairwood Gold Circle Oaks winner
The 2014 sale promises to be exciting as of what has been catalogued, the quality is certainly up on previous years. Melbourne is always a good sale where buyers can get set at reasonable prices, the 2014 catalogue certainly appears the strongest on quality pedigrees we can remember for the past decade.
There is little doubt that Inglis have put in a lot of effort to attract vendors to the sale and as a result, the buyers will flock to the venue.
The sale in
2011 averaged
$71,645 (Median $57,500), in
2012 $72,412 (Median $60,000) and in
2103 $76,302 (Median $60,000). Dynmaic Syndications are predicting the sale average will break through the
$80,000 glass ceiling and the Median to rise to $65,000 due to the overall strength of the bloodstock market worldwide, the extra quality available at this sale and the strength of the Australian economy.
The addition of the
VOBIS Gold scheme in Victoria is certainly a big incentive too. With the extra monies on offer and the
Inglis Race Series, graduates can earn significantly high returns across the board.
Add in the strength of trainer bench in Victoria, the Victorian thoroughbred Industry appears to be in a very healthy position. NSW based owners and trainers are also very well catered for with many eligible for the BOBS scheme.
The Dynamic Syndications team (Dean, Adam, Gary Mudgway and Dr John Walker) will commence inspecting on Thursday morning with the sale set to commence on Sunday and continue over 4 days. The first 3 days are the main sale which covers
616 yearlings. On Day 2 there is a
“Blue Riband” session commencing at lot 201 – 252, where these lots are offered specifically as horses to race over middle distance trips as older horses.
It promises to be a fascinating sale.
Dynamic Syndications have done our due diligence work and identified 155 of the 616 lots (which is 25% of the catalogue) that are of specific interest to us based upon the genetic balance of the pedigree along with the commerciality of the family and suitability of the sire.
We are particularly keen to see all the
Reward For Effort Yearlings on offer. This is his first crop to head to the sale ring. We purchased (pinched !) two spectacular yearlings by him on the Gold Coast and since then, one has sold for $50,000 in Tasmania and another for $70,000 in Perth. With 23 catalogued in the sale there is a buzz in the marketplace about what great types he is producing and how he is stamping his stock. We hope to find another one by him to add to our stable stars.
Proven sires are sure to be in demand and we are keen to see how many can pass our team’s
strict selection criteria and then most crucial of all, how many pass x-ray inspections. Then of course, those that do pass will be expertly valued by
Dean Watt who as a licenced commercial agent and long standing member of the Bloodstock Agents Federation, is qualified to make such accurate assessments. Those that pass physical inspection and fall under our ceiling price will be purchased while those that break through the ceiling price will not be chased. Therefore ensuring our clients receive high quality thoroughbreds that are sound and correct and at a fair market value ensuring every opportunity of racetrack success.
Stay tuned over the sale days as we update on
twitter and on our
website each evening how the sale is progressing.
