Idle Chat is the talk of the town:
More Than Ready mare Idle Chat has rewarded her patient owners with a devastating turn of foot to win eased up by 1.8lengths on Friday afternoon at Gosford in the $30,000 Turfcare NSW Class 2 Handicap over 1100m.
Trainer Darren Smith turned out Idle Chat in outstanding fashion and the mare didn’t disappoint her loyal owners coming from last on the turn to win with a leg in the air.
After jumping away well Idle Chat failed to muster the necessary speed to sit on pace and drifted back to last in the field of 9 some 10 lengths off the leader.
Jockey Tim Clark did not panic at any stage, Tim allowed Idle Chat to track into the race at the 600m point and the mare quickly picked up the bit and ran up onto the back of the speed 3 deep, Tim released the breaks at the top of the straight and Idle Chat unleashed a devastating turn of foot to put away her rivals in the matter of two strides to race away for a soft win.
Idle Chat has been a slow maturing mare and has taken time to hit her straps, her patient owners are starting to be rewarded as she has now greeted the starter 7 times for 3 wins and 1 second (beaten a nose) and has amassed over $50,000 in prizemoney. All the credit must go to astute Newcastle horseman Darren Smith, Darren’s kind and patient training methods has allowed Idle Chat to flourish under his care and she is now building an imposing race record.
Congratulations to owners: Gerry Harvey, Noel Loader, Merwin Faria, Ian Frykberg, Brad Tolentino, David Noyes, Adam Turnbull and Dynamic Syndications No. 14 Syndicate (Dylan Penrose, K Goradia, Donavan Ferguson)
