Former
Champion US two year-old and
promising young sire Uncle Mo has wasted no time posting his first winner.
At Keeneland in the US on Thursday, exciting colt
Outwork, the first runner for his sire, broke his maiden in impressive fashion.
Racing for the owner/trainer combination of Mike Repole and Todd Petcher, the same duo who campaigned
Uncle Mo himself through is decorated career, Outwork showed good early speed to find the front from the break and then powered clear to win by two and a quarter lengths. It was an eye-catching display of sustained speed from the debutant and the performance evoked memories of Uncle Mo’s own running style.
Uncle Mo, a champion two-year and winner of both the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and the G1 Champagne Stakes, has been spoken of as the leading candidate for top honours as a first season sire in the US since his first progeny hit the ground.
His yearlings in 2014 realised up to US$550,000 and the winning start made by his first runner is only likely to heighten the expectation around him.
The first Australian bred yearlings by
Uncle Mo have realised up to $140,000, with leading Hong Kong trainer Tony Millard parting with that sum recently to secure a colt from Monarch Stud at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
Uncle Mo will stand the 2015 southern hemisphere season at Coolmore Australia at a fee of $16,500 incl. GST.
Dynamic Syndications tried hard to buy a couple of
UNCLE MO yearlings this year but unfortunately they sold for higher prices than we were willing to pay.
We believe Coolmore Stud are on a winner with this sire and we are keen to follow the deeds of his progeny.
