Fastnet Rock again showed why he is at the pinnacle of the alpha males in the breeding barns.
On Saturday when the Stakes races beefed up in Sydney and Melbourne his progeny performed.
His 4yo son COMIN’ THROUGH won the Gr3 Bill Ritchie Hcp at Randwick and his 3yo daughter CATCHY won the Gr2 Danehill Stakes at Flemington.
Comin’ Through now heads straight for the Group 1 ATC Epsom Handicap in two week’s time.
Comin' Through
The royally bred Fastnet Rock stallion Comin' Through, a half-brother to $7million earner Criterion.
Bred and raced by leading NZ Breeder Sir Owen Glenn,
Comin' Through won the Group 3 VRC Carbine Club Stakes last season as a 3yo and indicated he was back to his best with a powerful first up win at Randwick last month.
Sent out favourite for the Group 3 ATC Bill Ritchie Stakes over 1400 metres, Comin' Through raced on pace for jockey Michael Walker and repelled all challengers to win by a long head taking his overall record to 9 starts: 4 wins, 1 second, 2 thirds and prizemoney of $459,875.
Comin' Through will have the chance to improve his stallion resume when in the Group I Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Randwick in two week’s time.
"I think that type of race will suit him. We took the risk of going four weeks between runs to make sure we kept a little bit of speed in him and most importantly still having him there for the Epsom in two weeks' time with a bit of speed stepping up to the mile," his trainer said.
"If he draws a good gate in the Epsom he will be very hard to beat."
Winning jockey Michael Walker wasted to 53kg to fulfill the engagement and will likely have to be at a similar weight on the colt in the Epsom.
"He is a very good horse, he is the reason I got down to 53kg to make it today," Walker said.
Comin' Through is the eighth foal and eighth winner for the sensational broodmare producer
Mica's Pride, who has now produced four (4) stakes winners;
Silently, Varenna Miss as well as multiple Group 1 winner
Criterion and now
Comin’ Through.
Mica's Pride has a two year-old colt by Fastnet Rock and was covered last spring by Criterion's sire Sebring.
Comin' Through is one of 121 stakes-winners for champion sire Fastnet Rock, who has proven very successful with this female family also producing stakes-winners Upon This Rock, Amah Rock and Bull Point.
Less than an hour later at Flemington, it was 3yo filly CATCHY who added more black type success for FASTNET ROCK.
Catchy
Catchy had been a brilliant winner of the Group 1 MRC Blue Diamond Stakes last season so the powerhouse Fastnet Rock filly had the form on the board to bashing up the boys and she did it again on Saturday, surging clear to win the Group 2 VRC Danehill Stakes.
The 1200 metre sprint featured a number of boom colts that were all put in their place by the glamour filly.
Ridden by Regan Bayliss, Catchy was fitter following her narrow first up defeat last month and here she charged home from back in the field to humble by three-quarters of a length, the previously unbeaten colt Jukebox (by Snitzel).
Catchy will now step up in distance.
"If you go back and watch the Blue Diamond you see how powerful she was in the last 400 metres and she did that against the boys again today," Her trainer said.
"At the moment she's probably favoured to take on the boys in the $2 million Guineas.
"She'll run against the fillies next start and if she's as dominant again, we'll take on the boys in the Guineas.
"The Guineas is worth four times as much as the Thousand Guineas and twice as much fun."
A $220,000 Inglis Australian Easter purchase from the
Coolmore Stud draft, Catchy has now won five of seven starts and once second with earning over $1,251,000.
Foaled and raised at Coolmore Stud, Catchy is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Group 2 winner Cats Whisker, a daughter of Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus.
Coolmore Stud sold a full sister to Catchy at the Magic Millions this year for $700,000 and Cats Whisker has another Yearling full brother by Fastnet Rock.
She was covered last year (for the first time) by a stallion other than Fastnet Rock when visiting Golden Slipper hero Pierro.
Astute bloodstock industry participants know that if you want the opportunity to win the big races then you need to buy the progeny of the best sires and Fastnet Rock in a pinnacle alpha male sire.
Add in a broodmare with a brilliant black type Pedigree and your chances of success are multiplied significantly.
Then if the broodmare has already produced a true Champion, then the opportunity of success is amplified further.
When the resulting foal of that mating is a spectacular looking individual, who passes a full veterinary inspection including x-rays, endoscopic evaluation and a post-sale blood test then the odds of success have been heavily stacked in your favour.
Then knowing the genetic mating cross of Fastnet Rock (Danehill) over a mare by Carnegie has been highly successful, you realise what an incredible opportunity is presented.
Whilst there are no guarantees with thoroughbreds, investors know they have given themselves the ultimate chance of success.
That’s what Dynamic Syndications are offering our Owners right now.
