Promising staying prospect MAGENTAZ (Redoute’s Choice x Zapurple (by Zabeel)) broke through for his maiden victory at bet365 Geelong Synthetic: Geelong Racing Club on Friday 26, August 2016, in what promises to be an exciting racing career for the stoutly bred gelding.
MAGENTAZ with Dwayne Dunn
The
David Brideoke trained MAGENTAZ faced his first genuine trip of
2200m to date in his 7 start career and won pulling away by 1.75 lens x Head on the tricky and tight turning synthetic surface.
Magentaz wins strongly
Sent out an odds-on $1.70 favourite for jockey Dwyane Dunn, who was on a natural high having won last evening’s 2016 Scobie Breasley Medal at the Racing Victoria awards, gave a classical ride on
MAGENTAZ and the horse responded, putting a gap into his peers as an odds-on favourite should.
A big, tall, rangy type, standing over 17 hands, the handsome looking individual is a big striding horse, so drawing barrier 1 was not ideal.
Jumping away cleaning,
Magentaz rolled forward to settle one pair back in 3rd position tucked away on the fence.
The field swung out of the home straight and then remained in their positions for the next 1600m until the point of the turn.
Magentaz was now locked away in a pocket and the second favourite who was travelling in fourth spot on our outside, took off for home swooping three wide, pinching a 2 length lead around the outside as the field headed for home.
Magentaz was held up for a few strides before the gap appeared closer to the fence and the big horse had to be balanced and then asked to extend by Dwayne Dunn.
It took
Magentaz 3-4 strides and then he lengthened out magnificently, reeling in the leader with every stride.
Official Photo Finish
At the 200m,
Magentaz was still giving the leader a length start but at the 100m he had drawn up to eyeball the leader before powerfully extending through the bridle and running right through the line to post a margin of 1.75 lens.
Alex Woodhams - Stable Foreman
Stable foreman Alex Woodhams from David Brideoke’s stables was full of praise for the Dynamic galloper and was bullish about his future staying at trips beyond 2000m.
Dwayne Dunn
Dwayne Dunn was equally as positive stating the biggest problem for connections will be finding races long enough for the horse as he is a genuine stayer.
Redoute’s Choice is a quality stallion that can get plenty of horses that run 2400m and further whilst
Zabeel was a proven staying sire.
Zapurple was a high quality racemare winning at Gr3 level over 2500m and was Group 1 placed in the Oaks.
MAGENTAZ was purchased by Dynamic Syndications at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale in 2014.
Redoute's CHoice x Zapurple colt - LOT 29 after Dynamic Syndications had purchased him at the sales.
Offered by Grange Thoroughbreds (as agent) the Brown Colt was Lot 29 and sold for $80,000 and the way he is progressing he may be a very cheap horse in the making.
Magentaz in full flight
To what level of racetrack success
Magentaz reaches is up to the horse but it’s exciting to have a promising stayer as they are few and far between. Without being too bullish, we certainly believe the horse will put a few more pictures on the wall for his owners.
