The Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling sale is over for 2015 and NZ Bloodstock’s Karaka Premier Sale has just concluded.
As the dust settles, young entrepreneurial stud master
Henry Field who stands
FOXWEDGE at his
NEWGATE FARM in the Hunter Valley must be thinking all his Christmases have come at once, as he sees the first crop of his first stallion
FOXWEDGE make every post a winner in the sale ring.
It certainly has been a wonderful start for Newgate Farm.
FOXWEDGE
It’s certainly no surprise to see Henry and his Newgate team reaping the rewards of their hard work, with the exceptional sales of the first yearlings of
Foxwedge.
The highest-rated son of champion sire Fastnet Rock - Foxwedge was always going to appeal heavily to Australians wanting to source the best blood of magnificent
Fastnet Rock and there is no better way to obtain it than through his Gr1 winning and Highest Ever rated colt –
Foxwedge.
Breeders who backed their judgement along with Henry’s have been handsomely rewarded at the first 2 major sales of 2015.
Anticipation was high that the yearlings by
Foxwedge would be sought after since the weanling sale in June 2014 when
Foxwedge was the leading first season sire at this sale when eight youngsters sold at an
average $172,500, a spectacular return off a 2012 service fee of $33,000, especially given these were only weanlings, not yearlings.
Karaka just concluded with 6 of the
Foxwedge progeny selling for $1.09 million for an average of
$181,000. This is an impressive effort for a First Season Australian Sire in NZ and was a solid increase in his Magic Million average.
At the Magic Millions
Foxwedge was well represented and his progeny sold for an average of over
$157,000 which was an incredible 5.5 x the service fee on which they were conceived.
The highest price amongst them was Lot 24, a 3/4 brother to Ninth Legion who went for $350,000, a tremendous outcome from a $33,000 fee.
Even more rewarding and promising are the stables which the Foxwedge yearlings will join. At last count there were Foxwedge yearlings heading to the stables of:
Gai Waterhouse (5), Bjorn Baker (4),
Gerald Ryan (2), Chris Waller, Robert Smerdon, Peter and Paul Snowden, Mike Moroney, Tony McEvoy, Danny Bougoure, Kelly Schweida, etc.
Dynamic Syndications have purchased 2 incredibly appealing fillies by FOXWEDGE and we were delighted to have secured them early as the prices just keep finding new levels for this stallion’s well confirmed, top looking progeny.
Lot 191
Dynamic purchased Lot 191 for Gerald Ryan - a magnificent filly: She is a ¾ sister to outstanding racehorse and now in demand second crop sire ROTHESAY, whilst our filly is a direct descendent of multiple Gr1 Winner CANNY LASS (3rd Dam). She produced Stakes Winners CAUSEWAY LASS and ASTUTE ANGEL (Dam of AL JAMEEL and Constellation). CANNY LASS is a Full Sister to CANNY LAD and SISTER CANNY and a ½ sister to the Dams of SW TERRACE and CAMARENA.
523
Dynamic purchased Lot 523 for Gai Waterhouse – the most expensive purchase to date in 2015 by the Dynamic Team, this is another magnificent filly, this time from POLITE (USA). This daughter of Elusive Quality boasts one of the most dominant and pre-potent bloodlines in the thoroughbred world. This filly directly descends from one of the most influential mares FRANFRELUCHE (3rd Dam). This is the ultimate family for pedigree buffs.
Polite (USA) is a half-sister to Gr2 winner CONSERVE and to the dams of stakes horses Just a Coincidence, Plenty Dancing David and Ordination from the family of SW PLETHORA, LONG LASHES etc. This is the family of $5m mare MILANOVA, champion racehorse and sire HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR, BIG VIKING, HEART OF OAK, etc.
Bred by ATC Chairman Michael Crismale, the filly was a standout on type with the pedigree and genetic rating to match. So much so, Dynamic Syndications have used this filly as the yardstick to compare all the Foxwedge yearlings against.
Dean Watt said
“She is a cracker and in the stable of Gai Waterhouse will be given every opportunity to develop into a high class racehorse to match her sensational looks and bloodlines.”
The future looks bright for these precocious youngsters and
Foxwedge will have plenty of opportunities in Sydney, Melbourne, South Australia and Queensland with the top trainers.
