Magniloquent put in a magnificent performance at Ballarat yesterday where he was officially declared 3rd in his 1600m maiden. Magniloquent went up and even headed the eventual winner Tronador who just had the fitness edge over our gutsy 3yo gelding who can again be considered a little unlucky and will improve further with another run under his belt.
Magniloquent jumped well and was in a good position despite wanting to race keenly for much of the race. Magniloquent sat one out and one back throughout aided by a good ride from jockey Jason Benbow and was poised to strike coming into the home turn. Despite a dampening track (slow 6) and complaints from some of the jockey’s that the horses were struggling to find their feet rounding the turn, Magniloquent also knuckled at the same position but managed to get around successfully. He then let down with his run and headed the eventual winner at the 150m before tiring in the final 100m to finish 2nd over the line. This was a sensational effort given that it was Magniloquent’s first crack at 1600m, he went a little keen for much of the event and he was only second up. He will strip much fitter next start and potentially get over more ground in the future. Team Dynamic and trainer Peter Moody were both pleased with the effort of our gelding and we look forward to his next start.
Magniloquent was 2nd across the line as stated above after beating home the 3rd horse (Bloodbuzz Ohio) by approximately a half-length on finishing. A few minutes later, we were surprised to hear that a minor protest (2nd against 3rd) had been lodged against Magniloquent.
We again carefully studied the replay (in particular the 500m mark where the alleged contact happened. We remained confident that the protest would be dismissed and awaited the result. Unfortunately, the stewards did not have the same opinion and the protest was upheld. After the protest, Magniloquent was officially declared the 3rd place getter.
WATCH THE RACE BELOW.
It was a good performance from our 3yo Magnus gelding, Magniloquent. It was a lovely run and a top effort considering that he was second up after a spell and it was his first time attempting the 1600m trip. He looks to have come on nicely since last preparation and has the makings of a lovely middle distance horse.
We will wait to see how he pulls up over the next few days before assessing our next race option with this improving gelding. If all goes well, we will look at another race in the 1600-1700m range before possibly giving him a crack over 2000m. He has shown enough ability to win some handy races as we look forward. Every time Magniloquent gets to the track he learns more about being a racehorse and improves on his past performances.
Make sure that you keep an eye on the Dynamic Syndications website for updates on Magniloquent and his plan of attack over the coming months. We anticipate that it will not be long before we see this 3yo with Peter Moody finishing over the line in front of his rivals.
