A big two days of racing at the Valley with the Manikato set to be contest tonight and the WFA Championship of Australasia the Cox Plate to be run tomorrow. The next two days is regarded as Mooney Valley’s grand final with the eyes of the racing world solely fixed on their hallowed turf as some of the best horses in Australia line up in their quest for Gr1 glory.
Our two Melbourne trainers will headline the assault on Manikato night with Peter Moody and Mick Price both having runners that look well placed. Starting with the feature of the evening, Peter Moody will line up Ready to Rip in the Gr1 Manikato Stakes in what is sure to be a hot race. The former Queenslander has gone from strength to strength since arriving in the stables of Peter Moody and will be looking to turn the tables on race favourite Buffering.
Peter Moody will line up Ready to Rip in the Manikato Stakes
Peter has three other runners that are set to line up under lights at the Valley. All three are given a legitimate chance in their respective races with Rock Hit set to contest the 2nd race, Mareeza lining up in the 7th race and Oregon Spirit looking to win the final event on the card.
Mick Price has the one runner on the card with Sir Fernando lining up in the Major Putts Handicap over 1200m. He has opened a $2.90 favourite with the bookies on the back of his imposing record at the tight Mooney Valley track and a last start second in Adelaide.
The Cox Plate is always one of the season’s most exciting races and a race close to our hearts having won the race with top 3yo SAVABEEL in 2004. This year’s edition looks to be equally exciting.
Dynamic trainer Chris Waller will be represented by Shoot Out his George Main Stakes winner. Shoot Out has come in for heavy support since the barrier draw firming from $31 to $19 and looks to be one of the best roughies in the field. Chris will continue his Mooney Valley assault with Rangirangdoo who is set to compete in the Gr2 Crystal Mile. “Rangi” as he is affectionately known, has raced consistently this prep without breaking through and will look to change that tomorrow.
Chris will be looking to add another trophy to the cabinet in the Cox Plate tomorrow
Other Dynamic trainers: Mick Price, Gerald Ryan and Peter Moody will all have runners on the support card.
Gerald looks to have two live chances with Ironstein sure to come in for plenty of support. He has been running superb races this preparation but his yet to break through for that elusive victory. Tomorrow he looks to get his chance in the Mooney Valley Cup and we are hopeful that he can return a winning result for Gerald Ryan and his team. Also it could give Singo something to smile about on the day after a controversial week !
Both Mick Price and Peter Moody also have runners on the nine event card which is sure to be an interesting day of racing. We wish the best of luck to all the team with runners in Melbourne.
Turning our attention to Sydney, Chris Waller once again headlines our Dynamic team of trainers with 12 runners nominated to go racing tomorrow. Among these is Dynamic Syndications own Specific Choice, who returns to the track after his maiden win at Kembla in September. Glyn Schofield takes the ride aboard the son of Lonhro as he steps up to 1300m. The extra trip is a bonus for this staying bred youngster who will get better as the distances increase. Of Chris’ other runners on the card, Hoylonny and Velrosso look well placed and both will be aiming to visit the winners circle.
David Payne brings a team of four horses to Rosehill tomorrow with two juveniles set to be among them. David Payne produced 2yo winner Regimental Pride at big odds two weeks ago much to the delight of Dynamic Syndications and our team of stable mail followers. We will be hoping for a similar display tomorrow from the David Payne camp. Out of his other two runners, Queen’s Elect will be well in commission after stringing together a number of strong performances over the past month.
David Payne had a 17-1 2yo two weeks ago. Can he do it again?
Other members of the Dynamic team to line up runners at Rosehill include Gary Portelli, Gerald Ryan, Jason Coyle and Peter Moody. All four of these trainers will have runners under double figure odds and should be followed closely at the races on Saturday.
Dynamic Syndications and their trainers have been in fine form of late producing winners all over the country. Dynamic has managed to produce 4 winners in the past 6 days and will be looking to continue that trend on the weekend. The business end of the Spring is starting to heat up and we are glad to have all our top class trainers contributing to our fantastic ride. We wish each of them the best of luck over the weekend and we are confident we shall see plenty of them all in the winner’s circle in the near future.
