Record breaking sprinter Northern Meteor sired his second winner from just six runners at Kembla on Saturday when first starter Northern Glory proved much too good for his rivals.
Sent out a short priced favourite from barrier one, this exciting filly looked very strong as she cruised home to win the 1000 metre maiden by three and a quarter lengths. What made the victory more impressive is that she is still raw with a lot to learn. On Saturday, she missed the kick by over a length yet still managed to muster up the speed to lead the field and go on to win in impressive style.
Northern Glory is the second winner from just six starters for Northern Meteor, who had 25 entries in the 2013 Magic Millions on the Gold Coast including the half-brother to spring Group I winner Nechita from Artistique. Of the six Northern Meteor 2yo olds to have reached the track so far, they have produced 7 starts for 2 wins and 2 placings between them. There has always been a boom on this first season sire as the reports from all areas of the racing industry said his progeny could well and truly run.
Northern Meteor is proving his worth as a sire
Northern Meteor is siring winners at a strike rate of 33% runners to winners, an impressive feat for a stallion so early in his career. Especially considering the stallion himself did not race until he was a 3yo. He is one of only a handful of first season sires to have multiple victories and sits behind current leader Sebring who has had 4 winners from 13 runners so has a lower strike rate than Northern Meteor at 30.8%.
Northern Glory has firmed to 18-1 in Magic Millions betting following the impressive win on Saturday. There has also been support for Northern Meteor in the first season sire market as the excitement around his progeny seems to grow larger every week. It has been some time since a first season sire was victorious in the 2yo Magic Millions classic however the son of Encosta De Lago certainly has the pedigree and looks to have the progeny to do so.
We have already fully syndicated a lovely Northern Meteor filly out of Perugino mare, Comedy Club which has hence been named REPARTEE.
Repartee was the first of Northern Meteor's progeny that we syndicated this year
Dynamic Syndications is pleased to announce that we now have another lovely colt by stunning first season sire, Northern Meteor which is up for syndication.
Last week at Dynamic, we released our third and final colt from the NZ Bloodstock Ready To Run Sale. He is a magnificent colt bred to be quick by the sire of the moment Northern Meteor. Like his dad, our colt is bred for speed and has already shown that he has the ability to be a very nice race horse.
He is out of unraced mare, VILLA VALENCIA, a ¾ sister to quality stakes class racehorse PARFUMIER and more importantly, she is a ½ sister to the outstanding racemare and producer PATOU - the dam of Dean Watt’s syndicated Golden Slipper Winner POLAR SUCCESS.
Our Northern Meteor - Villa Valencia colt that is currently being syndicated
With the boom on Northern Meteor and the fact our colt is closely related to Gr1 Golden Slipper winner Polar Success, it was no surprise to see this colt breeze-up in a sizzling 10.63 seconds for his 200m work, well inside the average time of 10.85 secs.
This colt will be trained by Sydney’s championship trainer Chris Waller who continues to get winner after winner on track. Chris has a huge wrap on him and will aim the colt at the Sprint races over the Autumn Carnival. Since the horse was organised to be brought home from NZ, he has been spelling and is due to fly home Tuesday. They will have a few days at Oakridge and be straight into work after Christmas to prepare for the bigger events. More information can be found on this colt by

The Northern Meteor progeny will only improve with age like his father did on the race track. He was a Gr1 winning dual course record holder at three and constantly improved on his performance throughout his career before being retired to stud.
