In what looks to be the start to a nice race career, the Dynamic Syndications purchased NO IFS OR BUTS displayed he has his fair share of ability when he won a trial at Rosehill on Monday morning.
NO IFS OR BUTS is owned and raced by a syndicate of ALL LADIES.
A graduate from the Magic Millions 2012 Yearling sales, NO IFS OR BUTS was offered by Vinery Stud as agent and Dynamic purchased the son of Not A Sing Doubt x Sutton Review for $65,000.
He was an instant headline horse from the very beginning as he looked to be a clone of one of Australia's favourite sprinters APACHE CAT based upon his flashy white markings and stunning looks.
In the care of astute Rosehill trainer Gerald Ryan, NO IFS OR BUTS put his owners on notification he has something to offer as a racehorse 2 weeks ago when he trailed well at running 3rd in his heat.
With that experience under him and further fitness and education, NO IFS OR BUTS returned to the trials and went particularly well recording a win in his heat of 9 runners.
Jumping nicely from an inside draw NO IFS OR BUTS was being ridden by young jockey Josh Adams. He allowed NO IFS OR BUTS to take a forward positive position trailing the speed being set up front by a couple wanting to go quick. Crushing around under a tight hold, the horse balanced well at the top of the straight and set sail after the leaders. He switched direction and angled out to the centre of the track then quickly gathered in both leaders. This experience was a positive one because as soon as he got there, his inexperience showed and he started to ease off, look around and stargaze, due to a lack of experience simply thinking he had done his job.
Josh Adams was not having any of that and gave him a click up to focus and as soon as that happened, the horse picked up the bit and charged to the line going away from his peers in the closing stages under hands and heels.
It certainly was impressive, not so much by recording a win or by the margin but rather the way he went about his craft and the improvement he has taken from the first to second trial. With similar improvement expected out of this trial, it appears the ALL GIRL crew will have a horse to cheer about once he starts his career.
It appears at this early staged, dependant upon variables such as his barrier draw and track conditions, he may well kick off at Gosford on 8 June in a 2yo Maiden over 1000m where leading jockey NASH RAWILLER has been booked to ride him.
Whilst there are no certainties in racing and no guarantee of success on the racetrack for any thoroughbred, we are upbeat about his potential racing career.
However NO IFS OR BUTS is certainly a horse to have benefited from his first to second preparation. When first in work, he was not keen on being a racehorse and was too focused on receiving the attention that his movie star looks had been giving him since a foal. He had become lazy and cunning and not wanting to put into his work with any gusto.
So after a quick change of status caused by an appointment with our vet, then sent up the Hunter Valley to toughen up a bit on a hill paddock and not being pampered resulted in a major change in attitude and now hopefully racetrack fortunes.
We certainly acknowledge the work by Gerald Ryan and his team of staff changing the horse into a potentially nice racehorse to offer our girls a lot of fun.
We look forward to the flashy gelding building his own cult hero status in the future.
