Racing NSW and the Australian Turf Club have announced that as of
1 October 2016 there will be massive increases in prizemoney across the state of NSW.
For Owners - It's NEVER been as lucrative as it is NOW to Own and Race a quality thoroughbred.
The "Jewel in the Crown" of the announcement is that
minimum prizemoney for
Saturday metropolitan races increased to $100,000 per race.
These announcements ensure Sydney racing remains the strongest and most competitive racing in any open jurisdiction around the world.
It is a further step towards achieving a vital component of Racing NSW’s Strategic Plan, intended to financially stimulate the NSW Thoroughbred Racing Industry.
In 2012, total NSW prizemoney was $118.9 million. Now, annual prizemoney in NSW is more than
$204 million, this has increased by $85 million over the past 4 years.
Racing NSW advised participants these latest increases are entirely sustainable and fully-funded from the proceeds of the sale of Digital Media Rights, Race Fields Legislation Fees and Tax Parity.
Hoofnote: BOBS Bonus (Breeders Owners Bonus Scheme) is a scheme in NSW where the progeny of Stallions which stand at stud in NSW, upon the payment of an entry fee for yearlings by that sire into the scheme, these yearlings become eligible to race for additional prizemoney to the winner on every 2yo and 3yo race conducted in NSW. Part 2 of the scheme known as BOBS Extra, is applicable to horses 4yo and above on races at distances of 1800m and further. Dynamic Syndications endeavours to pay this BOBS Scheme fee for each eligible yearling we purchase where practicable.
Increases to prizemoney are highlighted as follows:
• Metropolitan Saturday minimum prizemoney increasing to
$100,000 per race or almost 18% on 1 October 2016 from $85,000 per race.
Plus an additional
$20,000 cash BOBS Bonus if the winner was a BOBS eligible runner.
• Provincial minimum prizemoney increasing to
$30,000 per race or 36% on 1 October 2016 from $22,000 per race in June 2016.
Plus an additional
$5,000 cash BOBS Bonus if the winner was a BOBS eligible runner.
• Country TAB minimum prizemoney increased to
$20,000 per race or 33% on 1 July 2016 from $15,000 per race in June 2016.
Plus an additional
$5,000 cash BOBS Bonus if the winner was a BOBS eligible runner.
• Country Sky 2 minimum prizemoney increasing to
$10,000 per race or 25% on 1 October 2016 from $8,000 per race.
Plus an additional
$5,000 cash BOBS Bonus if the winner was a BOBS eligible runner.
• Addition of an eighth race to 20 selected midweek and night ATC race meetings from 1 October 2016, injecting
a further $800,000 in prizemoney.
Plus an additional
$10,000 cash BOBS Bonus if the winner was a BOBS eligible runner.
• Inclusion of an
$80,000 feature race on ATC night meetings from 1 October 2016, injecting a further
additional $320,000 in prizemoney.
Plus an additional
$10,000 cash BOBS Bonus if the winner was a BOBS eligible runner.
• Group 2 race prizemoney increasing to a minimum of
$200,000 per race or 14% on 1 October 2016 from $175,000.
• Group 3 race prizemoney increasing to a minimum of
$150,000 per race or 20% on 1 October 2016 from $125,000.
• Listed Race prizemoney increasing to a minimum of
$125,000 per race or 25% on 1 October 2016 from $100,000.
BOBS bonuses of $20,000 have been added to two and three year old Listed races from 1 October 2016.
• Inclusion of
a $150,000 feature race on selected metropolitan meetings.
• Country and Provincial Championships qualifying heats to be run for
$150,000.
• A
fortnightly (26) $40,000 provincial maiden race on selected meetings from 1 October 2016.
Plus an additional
$5,000 cash BOBS Bonus if the winner was a BOBS eligible runner.

Thirty (30) $40,000 country restricted maiden races on selected Showcase meetings from 1 October 2016.
