When Arrowfield Stud – Australia’s Leading thoroughbred nursery, agrees to stand a stallion they seldom make an error in judgement. So when they agreed to stand OLYMPIC GLORY (IRE) in a shuttle arrangement with Al Shaqab Racing in France, we took note of why they would do that and the statistics and evidence of OLYMPIC GLORY racetrack deeds and pedigree were there for all to see.
OLYMPIC GLORY
• A Champion Sprinter / Miler by Leading Australian Sire CHOISIR
• A Champion 2yo in Europe Winning 4 of 5 Juvenile Starts
• The Equal Leading 3yo Male (at a Mile) on the 2013 World Thoroughbred Rankings
• A Group 1 Winner as a 2yo, 3yo and 4yo
• A Winner of 8 Races inc 4 x Gr1’s and over $1.4 million Euro’s in Prizemoney
• A Track Record Holder
• A horse with a final Timeform Rating of 130 ranking him among the world’s top dozen performers in 2014.
This 4 time Gr1 winning son of high quality sire CHOISIR ticked all the boxes.
He won 8 races – 7 were Stakes Races. There were 4 x Gr1 races, 2 x Gr2 races and a Gr3 Win plus he was Gr1 placed on 3 occasions.
A top looking individual who was a super 2yo, he won 4 races as a juvenile.
He was crowned Champion 2YO Colt in France in 2012 and Joint Champion 2YO Colt in GB in 2012.
He was crowned Equal Leading 3YO Male (Mile) on the 2013 World Thoroughbred Rankings.
He was crowned Champion 3YO in Europe, France & GB in 2013
He was crowned Champion Older Male Miler in Europe, France & GB in 2013 & 2014.
The decision to shuttle the high-class sprinting son of Choisir is the first move by
His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani’s successful Qatari racing organisation
Al Shaqab into Australian thoroughbred breeding.
Olympic Glory stood his first Northern Hemisphere season at Al Shaqab’s Haras de Bouquetot in France and then shuttled to Arrowfield Stud.
Arrowfield Chairman John Messara said, “Olympic Glory is a first class stallion prospect and as such is a major asset for Australian breeders. We look forward to launching Olympic Glory’s southern hemisphere career with a strong book of mares.”
John Warren, a bloodstock advisor to The Queen and advisor to Al Shaqab, says, “Sheikh Joaan is delighted that Olympic Glory will be standing at Arrowfield; John Messara’s team have a wealth of experience standing top class stallions and are committed to making Al Shaqab’s first venture into the Australian thoroughbred industry a success.”
Therefore it’s of no surprise that this First Season Sire is making an immediate impact in the Northern Hemisphere where his oldest are now 2yo’s.
OLYMPIC GLORY at Stud
Early in the Northern Hemisphere 2yo season, he has already sired 8 winners and 7 placegetters including a stakes placed runner.
He is sitting 4th on Earnings and 5th in both Winners and Wins, which is marvellous result as he has had less runners than those in front of him on the tables.

At the 2018 yearling sales, we were keen to see how his progeny looked and we were delighted with what we saw. Like him, they were strong, athletic, good boned, sprinter types.
When we saw the yearling from Group 1 Winner COVERTLY he was an elite individual and we became focused upon buying him.
Our Colt at the yearling sales
Any colt by a Champion Racehorse (who was a 4 time Group 1 Winner), from a Group 1 Winner who won 6 Races 4 at 2 has a recipe for success.
Detective
Add in the fact the mare has produced
4 foals to race – 3 winners and each of these winners is Stakes Class with
DETECTIVE winning a Listed Race and placed at Gr2 and Listed level.
Bourne Supremacy
Secret Doubt
Bourne Supremacy won 5 races and was Gr3 placed whilst
Secret Doubt won 2 races and ran 4th in a Listed Race.
Genetically the cross is highly successful with 61 Stakes Winners on the 3 x 3 Danehill x Kalamoun cross.
When our veterinarian Dr. Tim Roberts checked the X-Rays and scope and gave us the green light to buy him, we determined a true market valuation on him of up to $150,000.
When the horse was in the ring, we were delighted to hold the winning bid at $120,000 + GST. That was $30,000 under our ceiling price and represented a 20% discount we could pass onto our owners.
He must have impressed the team at Arrowfield Stud as an individual from day 1 because as soon as he was knocked down to Dynamic Syndications, Arrowfield came to us and thanked us for buying him and then asked if they could purchase a 10% share in him as a potential racing and stallion prospect.
That’s the ultimate endorsement, when the breeder sells into the open market and then buys back into the horse.
So we have been waiting patiently to see how the OLYMPIC GLORY progeny would perform on the track in the Northern Hemisphere and we are delighted with his early results.
We believe we have purchased the best yearling by him.
Bred to be good with looks to match, we have a colt who is By a Gr1 Winner - From a Gr1 Winner and is a ½ brother to a Stakes Winner whilst his second dam is a Stakes Winner – hence he has the commercial pedigree page to be an attractive sire prospect if his deeds on the track can marry up with his looks and pedigree.
With 5% shares at $11,000 including GST and All Costs to 31 August 2018, this is a serious colt for an owner who wants to race a horse bred to be a black type horse. This colt is a standout and warrants consideration.
We invite you to join Arrowfield Stud to race this OLYMPIC GLORY x COVERTLY Colt with Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.
Give ADAM WATT - Director of Sales and Marketing at Dynamic Syndications a call on 02 9540 1511 or 0409 464 378 and find out more about this exciting colt.
