The Chris Waller-trained and Dynamic Syndications purchased Made To Order remains in contention for a start in the Australian Oaks during the autumn after a tough win in the Australian Turf Club Handicap (1800m) at Randwick on Boxing Day.
Stable representative Peter Muscat said the Randwick feature in April remains a genuine target but conceded it is "very awkward timing” with the race still three months away.
"She's a very good filly,” he said. "She'll get a mile and a half on her head.
"We'll see how she comes through this but more than likely we'll push on.”
Jockey Peter Robl had Made To Order camped on the outside, behind the leaders Love Takes Over and Frespanol throughout the race before launching his claim as the small field of six swung into the home straight.
Made To Order and Nightingales, who'd trailled the former in the run, surged up to Frespanol with 200 metres to run, before taking over but Made To Order found too much and was holding Nightingales on the line.
Made To Order ($3.20 fav) defeated the Peter Snowden-trained Nightingales ($3.40) by a neck with a half-length back to the Gai Waterhouse-trained Frespanol ($5) in third.
Robl, has enjoyed a good recent run of winners working with Waller's leading Sydney stable and said Made To Order is a filly of genuine promise.
"She's a lovely filly,” Robl said. "I honestly think she's got an Oaks trip written all over her.
"She's got a bit of ability on her side and was always going to beat them today.”
