The
2015 Melbourne Cup was the most wonderful
“feel good” story with jockey Michelle Payne, her brother Stevie Payne and their 100-1 outside –
Prince of Penzance.
Now that
Dynamic Syndications have teamed up with Gai Waterhouse, Gai continues with that burning passion to again win the race that stops the nation. Having won the Melbourne Cup with
Fiorente, I too have been swept along with that goal.
Gai was gallant again this year, qualifying 2 horses for the Cup –
THE OFFER (who won the Bendigo Cup Gr3 leading into the Cup) and
EXCESS KNOWLEDGE (who won the Gr3 Lexus Stakes leading into the Cup).
At the yearling sales in 2015,
Team Dynamic in conjunction with Gai had a specific desire to buy a couple of yearlings bred to be
Classic and Cup prospects.
During this process, together we were adamant that we were only intending to buy well-bred fillies, which ensured our Dynamic Owners had the opportunity to
“Race The Best With The Best,” to have a chance to win these events and very importantly, had the pedigree page that the mare would be in demand in the breeding barn ensuring an excellent residual value upon retirement, protecting our owners equine investment.
Equally as important, we recognised that to target these distance races, it was vital to buy NZ bred and raised yearlings, as the stats speak for themselves.
24 of the past 50 Melbourne Cup winners were bred in NZ.
The VIC Derby, and Melbourne Cup were won by NZ Bred yearlings.
3 of the first 6 across the line in the Melbourne Cup were bred in NZ – Prince of Penzance, Criterion and Gust of Wind.
Gai knows how to train them – She has won the race and her runners this year finished close up ran 7th and 8th.
We purchased two NZ bred and raised fillies to give our owners and our Hall Of Fame Trainer the chance to win these races in the future – with our
CAPE BLANCO and our
SAVABEEL fillies - both bred to achieve what we are searching for.
Our CAPE BLANCO / ATHENRI filly –
Our 2yo Filly with GAI by CAPE BLANCO x ATHENRI
By the exciting first crop sire –
CAPE BLANCO, he is the second highest rated son of
World Champion Sire GALILEO to go to stud behind
FRANKLE.
CAPE BLANCO was the
Champion 3yo of Europe winning the
Irish Derby and then went to the USA as a 4yo and became
Champion Turf horse in the
USA.
Her Dam is
ATHENRI (by Zabeel). A winner at 2100m herself, she has proven to be a stunning broodmare having produced 4 winners and two placed.
Shootoff winning the Frank Packer Plate
Of absolute importance is the fact that she has produced outstanding
Gr1 Winner SHOOTOFF who won the
Gr1 Queensland Derby and Gr3 Frank Packer Plate.
Being
a half-sister to a Gr1 Derby Winner our filly will be in demand when she retires.
Importantly she is from a daughter of
Champion Broodmare Sire ZABEEL. To give an understanding of how important that is, Zabeel is the broodmare sire of over
1500 winners including 150 Stakes Winners and 110 Stakes Placegetters.
Last Saturday,
ZABEEL was the broodmare sire of
MAHUTA who won the Carbine Club Stakes Gr3 1600m and the Gr1 Derby Winner 2500m
TARZINO.
We currently are sitting at 95% (19 of 20 shares) SOLD.
5% Shares in this filly are $8,050.00 inc GST and ongoing costs with GAI will average $8.20 per day.
