It may have only been a race at Newcastle’s Beaumont circuit last week however winning races for our Owners is what our business is all about and to ensure as often as possible our Ownership Teams have enjoyable experiences in racing.

Especially when it comes to extremely well bred fillies who upon racetrack retirement take their pedigrees and race wins to the breeding barn with them.

LAGONDA (4yo mare by ENCOSTA DE LAGO ex PRETTY FLAMINGO – More Than Ready) is literally regarded as “bred in the purple.”

She is thoroughbred royalty – a princess !

By a Champion Sire, she is the first foal from an Australasian Record Priced Weanling ~ Pretty Flamingo. She set a new benchmark of $660,000 when she was sold as a foal.

Pretty Flamingo has a Fastnet Rock half-sister named Tickled Pink with Gai Waterhouse that is showing way above average ability in her 3 trials. She appears set to uplift the pedigree page further.

Pretty Flamingo is a daughter of the Stakes Winning mare MILANOVA (by Danehill).

MILANOVA was Australia’s Record Priced Broodmare when she SOLD for $5 million.

MILANOVA has since been sent to Europe and has been mated several times with World Champion Sire Galileo.

MILANOVA is also a half-sister to Stakes Winner and Champion French Sire HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR.

Therefore from a commercial perspective, it was important that LAGONDA could win races and take this pedigree page to the breeding barn and now – she is the winner of two races at 1600m and 2200m.

We thank our trainer Gary Nickson for taking a horse from a maiden this preparation to now the winner of 2 races and increasing her commercial appeal significantly upon racetrack retirement.

We also thank our jockey Ricky Blewitt who has ridden two perfectly judged rides to score on our mare both times - 100% !

These were the scenes from Newcastle which is undergoing major renovations to the outer track at present so it does look a bit of a building site on the outside but the Beaumont track is like a billiard table.
