Dynamic duo Gerald Ryan and Brenton Avdulla got Saturday off to a winning note when
SKYCLAD led throughout from the outside draw to win the William Hill Sporting Chance 2YO Handicap (1100m) at Rosehill on Saturday.
Known for getting the best out of the
Snitzel breed, Gerald Ryan presented this two-year-old colt in magnificent order and a $16 into $13 betting move came off.
In a competitive betting race, the heavily-supported Stravigo $2.80 fav faded right out of contention, after trailing
SKYCLAD to the turn.
Avdulla was quick to find the front and
Skyclad gave a strong kick turning for home.
Despite being still very green and wandering about inside the final 250-metres the result was never in doubt.
Skyclad scored by a length to Godolphin's
Lycia ($10), which chased gamely with Ryan's other runner
Backstab ($13) working into third, a further short neck away.
"He has always shown good ability from the word go,"
Gerald Ryan said.
"He does everything right, eats all his feed and it was certainly no surprise to me to see him win."
Gerald Ryan indicated that
Skyclad would have one more run this campaign before going for a spell and coming back to target the spring.
Impressively,
SKYCLAD became the
35th individual winner GERALD RYAN has trained by SNITZEL – hence earning the title of
“King of the Snitzel’s”.
Dynamic Syndications and Gerald Ryan have combined to offer our owners a
Snitzel ½ brother to multiple Gr1 Winner BENTLEY BISCUIT.
