REPARTEE lived up to her trackwork and recaptured her early form lines when starting a $3.20 equal favourite, she recorded a dominating victory at Kembla Grange on Saturday afternoon, scoring in Race 5 the Sutherland Shire Tiles Benchmark 65 Hcp 1000m.
REPARTEE won with such authority that she was allowed to coast to the line under her own steam and still posted a widening 2.8 length margin over the runner-up Man Of Destiny with another 0.4 lens back to Diamondsinthenight in third position.
The time was outstanding !
On a winter track they ran a sizzling
56.93 and ran home their last 600m in
32.49. The time was just outside the class record and there is no doubt that had
REPARTEE been pushed out right to the finish line, she would have set a new record.
REPARTEE (4yo mare Northern Meteor / Comedy Club) carried 56.5kgs and is trained by
David Payne at Rosehill and was ridden perfectly by underrated jockey
Adam Hyeronimus.
From the time the gates opened to the time they strode past the winning post,
REPARTEE was never under pressure.
She flew from the outside gate and with a matter of just a few strides was in front of a field which we anticipated on paper, would run along quickly in front.
The filly settled beautifully for Adam, who just bided his time as the sectional markers flew by.
Approaching the home turn
REPARTEE was being held together and as they swung for home, Adam balanced
REPARTEE and then kept her under tight wraps to the 300m where he slipped her a little reign and she started to extend.
Pressure was attempted to be applied from those chasing her at the 200m and then Adam let the brakes off.
REPARTEE left them in her wake and slipped 3 lengths away, with those chasing having no answers. Adam looked over his shoulder and saw there was a lot of daylight between him and those chasing so was able to be kind to
REPARTEE and took hold again as the pair strolled past the post without any pressure.
REPARTEE leads clearly from barrier 9
at the 800m
At the 600m
At the 400m
At the 200m
At the 50m
REPARTEE is eased down to score by 2.8 lengths
REPARTEE returns to scale an easy winner !
Upon returning to scale
Adam Hyeronimus reported to our Dynamic Syndications own
Adam Watt that
REPARTEE was
“a missile” and
“she was doing it easy” and he added
“I still had plenty under saddle.”
The Dynamic Trio and the 3 Adam's = Adam Turnbull, Adam Hyeronimus and Adam Watt
REPARTEE has always shown plenty of ability and that she was up to city class.
However we have had a unique injury with her that was hard to detect and then when located, took time to heal.
On debut she had won over 1100m on a heavy track at Bendigo and was then shipped up to Sydney.
At her first Sydney start, she ran second beaten a neck in a Saturday race at
Randwick, to the multiple Group placed runner Northern Glory.
Then at her next start she was placed second again at
Canterbury to Watabout.
Sent for a spell, she resumed at
Canterbury and went poorly and was subject to a Stewards Report and vet report but nothing was found. She trialled after that, which she won but at her next start, she ran 5th at Randwick beaten 2.5 lengths to Sense and Reason.
REPARTEE was not a happy horse but nothing could be located. So we sent her back to the races but dropped her back to provincial class but again, she put in a poor run finishing 5th beaten 3 lengths.
We knew that despite nothing obvious, there was something not right. She didn’t want to stretch out. Then we aborted that preparation and sent her back to the paddock. We then arranged for our vet to go over her from head to toe and do all tests possible. Every easy check was done but nothing was located so we advanced to a bone scan.
The bone scan revealed
REPARTEE inexplicably had damaged the cartilage between 3 ribs on her near (left) side and there was deep bone bruising of those 3 ribs as well. This is an extremely rare injury in a racehorse and without the scan would never have been uncovered.
Paddock rest in a small yard with restricted room to stop her running about was the only way to attend to this injury giving her the necessary rest to recuperate. Once the time had elapsed, we did another scan and the area was right to go, so this time in, we employed a longer and slower preparation, giving her plenty of time on the water walker and dry walker before putting her under saddle and then slowly introduced her back to trot and canter and built the foundations.
She had an easy trial back without any pressure and then went to the races at Wyong over 1100m first up. She had a torrid run that day trapped deep. She hit the front in the straight but ran out of gas first up to finish second, beaten 3 lengths but in the process, did beat home some highly spruiked gallopers.
We were confident that this run would bring her along nicely and that she needed a big track rather than a tight turning circuit.
With the first up run out of the way and her fitness levels improved, a big roomy track at Kembla, back 100m in distance and with a good rider on top,
REPARTEE was extremely well placed in this event and she didn’t let her supporters down.
REPARTEE was purchased from
Rheinwood Pastoral at the
Magic Millions Sales.
Her race career now reads:
8 Starts: 2 wins, 3 seconds and $53,605.
She has won at 1000m and 1100m. She has won at Bendigo and Kembla Grange as well as being placed at Randwick, Canterbury and Wyong.
