Arrowfield's champion sire
Redoute's Choice (Danehill-Shantha's Choice, by Canny Lad) has catapulted to the top of the Australian Sires Premiership thanks in part to the recent brilliant performances of his son Lankan Rupee.
The 4YO gelding confirmed his status as the world's best sprinter when scoring an outstanding win in the $2.5 million TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick last Saturday on day one of The Championships. He is Redoute's Choice's third winner of the prestigious race, after Melito in 2010 and Master of Design in 2012.
It was Lankan Rupee's sixth straight win and his third consecutive victory at Gr1 level following his successes in the Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield and the Newmarket Handicap at Flemington. He has now won nine of his 16 starts and prize-money of $2.8 million for owner-breeder Muzaffar Yaseen's Teeley Assets and trainer Mick Price.
Lankan Rupee's spectacular win shot Redoute's Choice to the top of the sires' list with progeny earnings of $8,786,268, just ahead of his emerging sire son Snitzel who commands second position with earnings of $8,279,685.
Snitzel, who had occupied top spot on the Sires' Premiership since last October, added more than $300,000 to his season earnings courtesy of 2YO colt Scratch Me Lucky, a brave runner-up in the $1 million Gr1 ATC Sires' Produce Stakes.
Dynamic Syndications have purchased 2 yearlings by REDOUTE'S CHOICE in 2014.
