Dynamic Syndications and Trainer Brad Widdup along with stable rider Christian Reith combined at Orange in Race 4 on Tuesday 30-1-18 to claim an effortless 5 ½ length win in the NAGLE TRANSPORT 1600m Class 1 Maiden Plate.
Resort winning by over 5 lengths at Orange on Tuesday
It was the second win of the day for the Dynamic / Widdup combination, having scored earlier in the day when taking out Race 1 at Gosford with
ABERRATION.
It also marked our 31st Race Win of the 2017/18 Racing Season which has been going 26 weeks – so we are currently averaging better than a winner a week at this stage of the season.
Sent out a $1.70 favourite, Christian Reith gave RESORT a magnificently judged ride to win eased down by the widening 5 ½ length margin.
RESORT is a 4yo Bay Gelding by DOMESDAY from NUSA DUA.
RESORT was a dual acceptor on the day, having also been an acceptor in Race 1 at Gosford which was taken out by our stablemate ABERRATION.
We had always planned to take RESORT to Orange, as we believed the roomy layout of the track would give him his opportunity to show his class. However, the small field at Gosford was a temptation. Now it’s obvious in hindsight we pulled the right rein and had both horses placed to perfection and won for their Owners.
RESORT was facing the starter for just the third time for the Dynamic / Widdup team and had flashing lights on him last start at Kembla when getting so far back he lost sight of the leaders before storming home to run fourth.
Video watches and the press didn’t miss it and the horse opened in early markets at $2.20 before being well supported into $1.70 favourite with $9.00 and longer the rest of the field.
Brad Widdup drove himself up to Orange to ensure everything went well and the horse did the rest.
Jumping away from barrier 3 of 12, Christian was aggressive early with Resort and the horse landed in a far more forward spot in 4th / 5th about 3 lengths off the leaders in race with good speed.
Between the 1200m and the 800m there was a bit of buffering as riders shifted in and out causing Christian to grab hold of Resort several times. From the 700m he was just cruising for the next 300m and then moved up 3 deep on the point of the turn.
Upon straightening, Resort was towing Christian along and when the brakes were let go, Resort dashed 5 lengths in front.
A cheeky look over his shoulder showed Christian that the opposition was nowhere in sight and he sat up on Resort over the last 100m allowing our horse to coast to the line.
The 1600m certainly suited but there is little doubt that a 2000m trip would be even more appealing.
In the 3 runs Resort has had for his
DYNAMIC OWNERS, he ran 3rd at Bathurst when resuming over 1400m before that Kembla effort over 1400m when 4th beaten less than 2 lengths. Arguably he should have won both these races with a little luck but here at a mile, 3rd up and just starting to hit his straps, the future looks promising that he can add another win or two for his ownership team.
Resort was a $22,000 purchase from Godolphin and yet another winner Brad Widdup has produced from the Dynamic venture.

It was great to see (and hear) several owners who had gone to Orange to see their horse race and experience the thrill of owning a winner for the first time.
RESORT became our 31st Win of the Racing Season and our 518th Race Win since October 2005. He also became our 182nd Individual Winner from 195 Individual Runners – an amazing 93.3% our horses we have purchased that have raced have won !
