WHO’S THE MOST EXCITING NEW SEASON SIRE ?
The facts speak for themselves – Fast and Precocious = REWARD FOR EFFORT
REWARD FOR EFFORT has now had
2 of his progeny sizzle at the breeze-up and by his own deeds, he has made himself the
BOOM new crop sire.
From the
121 Lots to breeze up in Sydney and Melbourne, 12 lots broke through the 11.00 seconds benchmark. 7 at Canterbury and 5 at Cranbourne.
From 12 lots to break the 11.00 seconds barrier
REWARD FOR EFFORT has 2 colts in the Top 6 Times across both venues.
His colt at Canterbury
REWARD FOR EFFORT x MAID IN SECRET was super impressive, breezing up
the third fastest of 69 lots clocking
10.68 seconds.
His colt at Cranbourne Lot 6
REWARD FOR EFFORT x BELSOEUR clocked
10.80 and was equally impressive and
the third fastest of 2yo’s on the day.
The facts are the facts – REWARD FOR EFFORT is producing quick horses, ready to go 2yo’s.
It’s no wonder – He did win the
Blue Diamond Gr1 and he is by
Exceed And Excel.
On Friday at Canterbury,
69 lots breezed up on a Slow 6 surface being clocked over the final 200m.
11.48 seconds proved to be the average time recorded at Canterbury on the Slow 6 rated track.
However it was the colt that breezed up without a workmate, that was the most impressive and had the crowd a buzz in what proved to be the third fastest of the day.
(Lot 72) Reward For Effort x Maid In Secret colt – 10.68 (Offered by Jackson Bloodstock, QLD)
Anyone who gets to watch this replay will be in awe of the way the colt accelerates with such ease from the 250m and how much he had in reserve, as he stretches out effortlessly.
Only 2 of his 68 peers set a faster time and both those worked together in the same breeze-up heat.
Offered by Glastonbury Farms, the fastest time was Lot 24 in
10.52 seconds by Fastnet Rock colt from Stakes winner Dakota Sue, whilst his breeze up partner Lot 58 by Myboycharlie from Joie de Verve recorded a time of
10.62.
There were
just 7 of the 69 top quality two-year-old colts break through the 11.00 seconds mark in their 200m breeze ups. They were:
10.52 – Fastnet Rock x Dakota Sue colt (Lot 24) – Glastonbury Farm, NSW
10.62 – Myboycharlie x Joie de Vivre colt (Lot 58) – Glastonbury Farm, NSW
10.68 – Reward For Effort x Maid In Secret colt (Lot 72) – Jackson B/Stock, QLD
10.74 – Nicconi x Marriage Value colt (Lot 77) – Widden Stud, NSW
10.79 – New Approach x Langness colt (Lot 63) – Glastonbury Farms, NSW
10.95 – Husson x Lemon Ruski colt (Lot 65) – Glastonbury Farms, NSW

The final breeze up session for this year’s sale was conducted at Cranbourne on Monday 8 September. On a Dead 5 surface
47 lots breezed up being clocked over the final 200m.
Again it was a
REWARD FOR EFFORT colt (Lot 6) ex BELSOEUR that stole most of the highlights, clocking a slick
10.80 secs – ( Offered by Frankie Stockdale Racing Vic )
Lot 6 REWARD FOR EFFORT x BELSOEUR Colt - 10.80 secs
That was easily in the top section of the morning, with just two of his peers going quicker. Those 2yo lots who broke the 11.00 seconds barrier were:
10.62 – I Am Invincible x Star Band filly (Lot 133) – MJI Thoroughbreds, VIC
10.67 – Magnus x Gold Quest colt (Lot 42) – Nolen Racing, VIC
10.80 – Reward For Effort x Belsoeur colt (Lot 6) – Frankie Stockdale Racing, VIC
10.87 – Hinchinbrook x Balwearie colt (Lot 1) – Nolen Racing, VIC
10.97 – Domesday x Elmfield colt (Lot 32) – J & J Anderson, VIC
Also there was one (1) 3yo which broke the 11.00 second mark however being a 3yo and not a 2yo, it can’t be compared based upon strength and maturity over the babies.
That 3yo was: 10.70 – Exceed And Excel x Scarlet Silk 3yo colt (Lot 169) – J & J Anderson, VIC
INGLIS Managing Director Mark Webster said:
“We’ve purposely designed our Ready2Race Sale to be THE SELECT Breeze Up of Australasia. The aim is to unearth future superstars”
“On behalf of Inglis I would like to praise vendors for presenting a stellar group of racehorses at our breeze up sessions” Mark Webster said.
“Although some other quality international sales don’t time their breeze ups, we think it is beneficial for our markets, but we’re certainly not looking to break any racetrack records. The Ready2Race Sale is about preparing and showcasing quality young horses that will stand up to the rigours of long successful careers on the familiar grass surfaces they will encounter at the top level in Australia, New Zealand and overseas,” Webster pointed out.
REWARD FOR EFFORT was raced by Dynamic Syndications and has covered 3 big books 150, 172 and 178 mares at his first three seasons at stud.
REWARD FOR EFFORT is a son of Champion Australian Sprint Sire
EXCEED AND EXCEL from the
Rory’s Jester Stakes Winning Mare
MISS PROSPECT and his
¾ sister OVERREACH won the
GOLDEN SLIPPER.
Originally put up as
second favourite at $4.00 behind Star Witness ($3.00) there is little doubt he looks a fantastic punt on the first season sires premiership before anyone knew about his progeny.
Now that 2 of his colts sizzled at the breeze ups, the proof is in the marketplace –
the REWARD FOR EFFORT progeny can run !
Dynamic Syndications only purchased
2 REWARD FOR EFFORT progeny this year and both have broken-in like
superstars. We wanted to buy the
Best Colt and Best Filly on both conformation and genetic breeding.
Our REWARD FOR EFFORT Filly
Our filly ex WALKLIKEANEGPTIAN we think is a star on what she has shown us already and with
Peter Moody she will be given every chance to emulate what her dad did !
Our REWARD FOR EFFORT Colt
Our colt ex FAIRY RAINBEAM is showing us that what these breeze up horses did was no fluke. We are convinced our colt would be a superstar if we had breezed him up.
Strong, correct and the best on genetic breeding of all the colts
Reward For Effort had available at the sales, he is going far better than our wildest dreams would allow.
With
Mick Price who is known as the king of the kids, our colt is also a ready made 2yo.
