Take Pride looks a 2yo with a big future.
She settled in fifth place after the jump for the first half of the race before improving 3-4 deep travelling around the home turn. Once balanced at the top of the straight she gaped her opponents, bursting clear to win the 1000 metre dash by nearly three lengths.
Purchased for $94,000 from the
Inglis Premier Sale, Take Pride will now be looking to emulate the deeds of her brilliant sire as she too heads towards the
Group 1 MRC Blue Diamond Stakes in February.
The most expensive filly from the first crop of yearlings by
Reward for Effort, she obviously has ability to match her good looks.
The trainer has had a good opinion of her for some time now and she won very impressively.
He has her nominated for the Blue Diamond and all the good races, so it's nice to get that first win on the board.
Take Pride is the first foal of
Shabtis, a winning half-sister by
Elusive Quality (USA) to five time Group 1 winner Mummify, who has a Caulfield Cup win amongst his elite victories.
Reward for Effort, the son of champion sire Exceed and Excel, stands at Chatswood Stud in Victoria and has been extremely popular with breeders covering over 500 mares in his first three seasons standing at a fee of $11,000.
