With REWARD FOR EFFORT’s first crop progeny current season 2yo’s, the stallion continues producing winners.
On Thursday at Sale, Reward For Effort sired another 2yo winner when Pakaya Price saluted for trainer John McArdle by more than a length on the line.
With yesterday’s result he now has 9 individual winners and Reward For Effort sits only behind Rothesay and Beneteau for number of individual 2yo winners.
However with one of Reward For Effort’s winners coming at Turffontein in South Africa, that winner does not contribute to the Australian First Season Sires Premiership standings.
Therefore with 8 Australian winners credited to him, Reward For Effort sits in third position on the Australian First Season Sires Premiership, for the number of individual 2yo winners.
Leading the way is Benateau (NSW) (deceased) with 10 individual winners from 23 runners, followed by Rothesay (9 winners / 36 runners) then Reward For Effort(Vic) (8 winners / 27 runners), and in fourth Hinchinbrook (NSW) (6 winners / 25 Runners)
Pakaya Prince is trained by John McArdle at Mornington, the gelding jumped quickly from his barrier stall to take up the running inside the first 100m of the race and from this point never looked like being beaten, he set up a commanding lead by the time the field had reach the 600m pole and in what was a very dominant performance Pakaya Prince romped home to win by more than a length on the line.
Reward For Effort’s progeny include Winners; Take Pride (2 wins, Stakes Placed), Montana Star (2), Destiny's Reward, Jevilla, Petite's Reward, Valentine's Reward, Pakaya Prince, Tender Mist (S Af.) and placegetters; Ameritar, Essence of Terror, Silent Sniper, Uncanny Effort.
Reward For Effort received very good numbers of mares in his first three seasons at stud and will stand in 2015 at Chatswood Stud for a service fee of $11,000. He represents the best value (price / results) stallion standing at stud in Victoria.
Reward For Effort leads the way in the Victorian First Season Sire’s Premiership with 8 wins ($396,385) ahead of second placed Stryker 5 wins ($208,770).
To achieve what he has so quickly, is an excellent indication to his bright future ahead as the sire’s progeny certainly look like they will be much better suited once they turn 3yo’s.
