Dream Choice, Dynamic Syndications, Rob Heathcote (trainer) and James Orman (jockey) combined to produce a wonderful win for our connections in race 5 at Doomben on Saturday.
The ever consistent 7yo gelding
DREAM CHOICE (Redoute's Choice x Patou) is a 1/2 brother to Golden Slipper Winner POLAR SUCCESS.
However
DREAM CHOICE made his own name for himself and after this victory, he has taken his career record to
44 Starts: 8 wins - 5 seconds - 3 thirds and $354,635.
Starting on a Slow 6 surface DREAM CHOICE sizzled over the 1200m running 1:09.28 to score by 1 len x 2.3 lens in the Hamilton Hotel Open Handicap.
Ridden a treat by boom apprentice James Orman, DREAM CHOICE was given a gun run and the horse repaid the efforts of his rider by responding determinedly and showing his class, to easily defeat his peers.
As they jumped away,
DREAM CHOICE settled in the leading division but was restrained from the speed battle by James and as a result, the duo ended up on the back of the leaders in 4th spot.
The horse was traveling sweetly and had an uninterrupted passage from the 800m to the home turn. As they swung for the judge, James angled
DREAM CHOICE off the heels of the leaders, to be 4 deep and started to give chase down the centre of the track. He quickly reeled in the leaders settled down to a two horse war with runner-up Whiskey Allround. The pair battled from the 300m - 100m where class took over and
DREAM CHOICE pulled away with
Rob Heathcote's polish.
He was never going to yield, so those chasing had no chance to catch our boy.
Rob Heathcote was interviewed after the win by Sky Channel's Bernadette Cooper:
"Dynamic Syndications - it's good - I've only just started an association with them and it's got off to a pretty good start. We've got a nice mare DEFINE and then this lad (Dream Choice) has come up from Sydney carrying big weights. Jimmy (James Orman) gave a perla of a ride and got the job done."
"Dean Watt - keep sending them !"
"These Redoute's Choices that are not good enough for Sydney - there good enough for here (Brisbane) - please !"
"He ran a nice race first up for us but he had no luck. We were not keen to run him if the weather had really opened up and the track had got down to a Heavy 8, even though he has got some wet form but he handled that (slow 6) like a nice horse today."
"I've kept him fresh, we targeted this race and it came off, so I'm very happy for the connections."
"Happy days !"
DREAM CHOICE has had 2 runs in Brisbane since being sent to Rob. He was unlucky first up when trapped wide without cover throughout but hung on strongly to run 3rd by 3.1 lens but added
$6,500 prizemoney.
Then with this win at his second start in Brisbane, he added a first prize cheque of
$41,600 to his bank account - that's a nice
$48,100 in two races for our owners.
Congratulations to the team that race
DREAM CHOICE.
