On Saturday 14/10 at Caulfield, there was
a significant and very timely Black-Type pedigree update for our PIERRO / SPECIAL EPISODE 2yo Filly, who is being polished by
legendary Caulfield Trainer MICK PRICE.

At Caulfield on that day was the running of the
MRC Debutant Stakes a LR over 1000m for 2yo’s.
In a high quality field of beautifully bred youngsters was the Tony McEvoy trained
SACRED SWORD (by Exceed And Excel ex Episode). He led from the start but got claimed in the last hop when running a gallant 2nd to Qafila. It was a courageous run and has the hallmarks of a very promising colt capable of earning major Stakes Results.
Owned in a partnership that includes serious industry heavyweights Aquis Farm, Raffles Thoroughbred Racing and Rosemont Stud Pty Ltd, this colt has a stallions pedigree and undoubtedly will be aimed at the stallion making races at 2 and 3. So we will be having a shout and cheer for
Sacred Sword every time he goes around.
Our PIERRO ex SPECIAL EPISODE filly is very closely related to SACRED SWORD.
SACRED SWORD (Exceed And Excel) and SPECIAL EPISODE (Redoute’s Choice) (the Dam of our filly), are both Danehill line siblings, from the Dual Gr1 Oaks Winner EPISODE.
This pedigree update became the
fourth commercially significant addition to the pedigree page of our filly since we purchased her in January. They are:
1) PIERRO was crowned CHAMPION FIRST SEASON SIRE.
2) ASTRO FLAME the half-brother to our filly has won again and is now Stakes-Placed.
3) FIRST SEAL was awarded CHAMPION FEMALE SPRINTER title.
4) FIRST SEAL added a Gr2 placing in the MVRC Sunline Stakes.
We highlight on the pedigree page below, the additions to the family which were not seen on the catalogue page at the yearling sales, but
continue the upward commercial spiral of this family.
Then later in Saturday’s meeting,
legendary trainer MICK PRICE added yet another Gr1 Winner to his bulging training resume, when he trained the aptly named
MIGHTY BOSS to win the Gr1 Caulfield Guineas.

Mick Price had another Top Season in 2016/17 with 105 Winners including 9 Stakes Wins – 3 at Gr1 level and earnings over $5.8 million.
Mick has started the 2017/18 season in the same fashion with 25 winners already and earnings over $2.1 million.

TELEPLAY (Written Tycoon x Special Episode) is also trained by Mick Price and continues to impress everyone. She will be at the trials in the next couple of weeks.
Mick Price is adamant that Teleplay is a serious racehorse and believes she is also black-type bound which is not surprising based on the wonderful success of the family, the ability of her sire and the skills of her trainer.
