The Group 2 win by SWORD OF OSMAN who was bought for $165,000 at the 2017 NZ Premier Sale is another success story for Champion Sire SAVABEEL.
Last season’s top juvenile, Sword Of Osman (SAVABEEL) was back in the winners stall on Monday where he took out the Group 2 James & Annie Sarten Memorial Stakes (1400m) at Te Rapa by producing a relentless front-running performance in the feature 3yo $100,000 event.
Sword Of Osman had emerged as one of the best of the 2yo generation with explosive victories in last season’s Group 1 Sistema Stakes (1200m) and Group 3 Reid & Harrison Slipper (1200m).
The Savabeel gelding was third up this preparation into this event and aided by a gun ride Sword Of Osman dictated the speed throughout before repelling a strong challenge in the run home to defeat Qiji Express, whilst back in third spot was race favourite Madison County who never threatened.
Sword Of Osman will now aim at the Gr.1 Al Basti Equiworld Dubai New Zealand 2000 Guineas (1600m) at Riccarton on November 10.
