SAVABEEL has Unassailable Lead in NZ Sires Premiership

Going from strength to strength with a succession of new Stakes Winners in the 2017-18 season, Champion NZ Sire Savebeel has claimed his fourth consecutive New Zealand Sires’ Premiership.

Savabeel for the third consecutive season, has also won the Dewar Award (combined Australian and New Zealand progeny earnings).

Also for the third consecutive season Savabeel has won the Centaine Award (combined progeny earnings worldwide).

Whilst Savabeel is the leading New Zealand based Stallion on the Australian General Sires’ Premiership.

For the fourth consecutive year, Savabeel was crowned Leading New Zealand based sire at the Karaka Yearling Sale and the 2018 Australasian sales series has seen 82 Savabeel yearlings sell for an average of $259,766.

Savabeel has proved himself to be one of the most versatile stallions in Australasia with Group 1 Winners as 2yo’s over 1200 meters, 3yo’s over 1600 – 2400 meters and older horses have been successful at Gr1 level over a variety of distances.

Savabeel sired 6 individual Group 1 winners this season: Sword of Osman, Embellish, Hasahalo, Savvy Coup, Shillelagh and Kawi, taking Savabeel’s number of Group 1 Winners to 17.

Savabeel has notched up a total of 74 Stakes Winners to date and recent success includes siring the New Zealand Group 1 Guineas double with Embellish and Hasahalo and his daughter Savvy Coup won the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks. With these results, Savabeel sired the winners of three of the four main New Zealand Group One Classic Races.

In the 2017-18 Season, Savabeel sired 15 individual Stakes Winners including our own Group 2 Winning and multiple Stakes Placed mare SAVAPINSKI.

Savabeel’s class as a racehorse was evident when he defeated nine (9) Group 1 Winners in taking out the 2004 W.S. Cox Plate for Dean Watt and his clients and that level of achievement has followed through to both the yearling sales ring and progeny results on the racecourse.

His success shows he is the heir apparent to his own Champion Sire Zabeel who in turn was the heir apparent to Sir Tristam before him.

Like his sire and grandsire, his progeny display the toughness and durability to win over all distances, at all ages, equally with both sexes, from two years to eight years and incredibly, Savabeel has passed Zabeel for the number of Stakes winners sired at the same stage of their careers.

With recent successes, Savabeel is now achieving a Stakes winners-to-runners ratio above 10% and has thus becomes one of only two sires currently standing in Australasia to reach that level of excellence, the other is Redoute’s Choice.

Savabeel also boasts an enviable winners-from-runners ration that exceeds 70 per cent.

Previously Savabeel has stood for NZ$100,000 +GST so we can only imagine that his 2018 Service Fee is a significant increase on 2017, further justifying the incredible value our Savabeel yearlings ex ON BROADWAY, ex FRANKLY and ex TIARA.
