The super
SAVABEEL season continued on its winning roll this week with another two wins at Stakes Level.
DIADEME picked up the third Stakes Win of her career in winning the
Gr3 Westbury Classic at Ellerslie. This is her second victory in this event.
Last Saturday
SAVARIA became the
38th Individual Stakes Winner for SAVABEEL when she stormed home to record a dead-heat finish with Platinum Witness in the
Gr3 Lowland Stakes at Hastings. Such was the style of her win that she was immediately installed as favourite for the
NZ Oaks, ahead of another daughter of
SAVABEEL in SAAVOYA.
Just this 2014-15 Racing Season, SAVABEEL has now sired 10 individual Stakes Winners of 15 Stakes Races.
SAVABEEL wins the Cox Plate in 2004
These 10 Stakes Winners are: LUCIA VALENTINA (Gr1), SORIANO (Gr1), COSTUME (Gr1), SAAVOYA (Gr2), KAWI (Gr3), MY SABEEL (Gr3), SURPASS (Gr3), DIADEME (Gr3), PASADENA GIRL (LR).
With these recent black-type wins, outstanding young stallion
SAVABEEL sits in
pole position in the NZ General Sires Premiership and also on the Dewar Award of Australasian earnings.
He is also NZ leading stakes producing sire this season maintaining a dominance over
O’Reilly (7) and Pins (6).
Of the 10 Stakes Winners, 9 of them have been at Group Level whilst 3 of these were in Gr1 races.
That’s a remarkable season of a stallion of elite ability.
His career to date has resulted in
38 Individual Stakes Winners – 6 of these are Gr1 Winners and he is now sitting at
9.2% Stakes Winners : Runners ratio which for a stallion producing staying horses is simply brilliant.
It’s incredible to think that it seems like yesterday we were leading him back to scale with Chris Munce in the saddle having won the Cox Plate and now here he is as
the most successful stallion in NZ still actively breeding. Its highly probable he could go on to set similar highs to his own sire
ZABEEL.
Naturally having syndicated
SAVABEEL it’s very rewarding to watch his progeny continue to go from strength to strength.
In 2015 we were exceptionally keen to buy what in our opinion, was the
BEST FILLY ON TYPE but she must also have the
BEST GENETIC PEDIGREE RATING by this super sire
SAVABEEL.
We were not concerned about commerciality of the pedigree. Rather we needed to insure the genetic structure of the pedigree had produced success. Having reviewed all the fillies available by the sire and then rated their genetic pedigree, we established our short list and then went through our due diligence on the task of securing the best filly from that list.
We achieved our result.
We are adamant we have secured the best filly on the combination of type and genetics.
She was located in NZ and was being sold at their major yearling sale. We had to be patient, as she was catalogued as
Lot 729 offered by Waikato Stud (Home of
SAVABEEL) at the
NZ Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sales.
She is a daughter of the mare
SWAROVSKI and she does boast a high quality NZ pedigree. That was an added bonus. What mattered was the fact she was a top sort and passed a full veterinary inspection and she was clean on scope and x-ray.
Significantly, she was bred on
the emerging highly successful cross of SAVABEEL over PINS mares.
There have only been 16 runners to date bred on this cross. Incredibly 12 have won including 3 Stakes Winners, with the best runner to date BRAMBLES (Gr1).
This is rated as an A+++ rating, the BEST you can achieve with a BEST OF SALE RATING of 3.0 the highest rated filly in the sale.
Our filly is bred to the
exact same SAVABEEL over PINS cross as BRAMBLES (Gr1), and DOWAGER QUEEN (LR) and LOPOV (LR).
Then one generation extended pedigree of
ZABEEL over SNIPPETS adds in another 3 stakes winners
UNEARTHLY (Gr1), DO RA MI (Gr2) and ASAVANT (LR).
Whilst one further generation removal of
SIR TRISTRAM over LUNCHTIME adds in another 3 stakes winners
OVER (Gr1) and LR winners LITTLE TROUT and LONELY SHORE.
Naturally if you are buying the
BEST we need to be in the care of the
BEST Trainer. We have joined forces with
GAI WATERHOUSE – proven at bringing out the best in Classics horses.
With the deeds of the sire's progeny continuing to perform above expectations, we are naturally excited about the prospects of our SAVABEEL filly !
