Leading trainer
GERALD RYAN knows how to get results when it comes to progeny of Super Sire
SNITZEL.
Gerald is
KING OF THE SNITZEL’S having trained
36 individual winners by the sire.
His affinity comes from having trained the sire as a racehorse and knowing the traits that made
SNITZEL so good and seeing those traits replicated in
SNITZEL’S progeny.
Gerald is convinced that the secret to buying successful progeny by
SNITZEL, is to buy yearlings that are by broodmare sire lines that are capable of injecting stamina into the pedigree and the yearling appears to look more like the Dam rather than
Snitzel himself.
Gerald said:
“The best yearlings I’ve had by the sire have all thrown to the dam and are from mares that may have been sprinters themselves but have produced foal that have raced successfully between 1600m – 2000m.
“I know it’s one of the key’s with the breed and it has allowed me to train a lot of winners by him”
Our
SNITZEL / TYCOON JOY (by Last Tycoon) Colt is a classic example of the style of
SNITZEL progeny that Gerald has had plenty of success with.
Our colt is a half-brother to
3 time Group 1 winner BENTLEY BISCUIT. He won 12 races up to 1600m.
BENTLEY BISCUIT
Other foals from the mare
Mon Biscuit won 2 races at 1675m and 2000m whilst his ½ sister
Miss Cosimo is the dam of 2 winners both up to 1800m.
Our colt has just completed his
2nd session of pre-training, as he goes through his education and foundation aspects of learning his craft to be a quality racehorse.
Gerald is delighted with the colt’s progress and believes he will be a precocious type who will be a lovely horse in the Autumn when the big money 2yo races roll around and then, be better again at 3 and 4.

Our colt is developing beautifully as he grows into his tall, angular
frame. He has shown plenty of early ability to connections and his
future looks very promising.

Bred to be special with looks to match, our colt has a pedigree rating of A+++ bred on the Snitzel / Last Tycoon cross.

With 59 Stakes Winners bred on the DANEHILL / LAST TYCOON - Extended cross
Including 12 GROUP 1 WINNERS : 8 Colts / 4 Fillies.
So statistics prove the cross works exceptionally well. We would not be complaining to have another
Wandjina or Dances On Stars in the stables.
This week we ducked out to the pre-training complex and took a few updated photos of him before he returns to the paddock today for a short 6 week break.
Despite carrying a heavy winter coat, our colt is looking magnificent and really filling in nicely to his frame.
The reports from the trackriders are very upbeat and we are excited about his future.
He’s got the looks, strength and certainly the pedigree to be a high quality racehorse.
He will now have 6 weeks in the spelling paddock before coming into Rosehill for Gerald to work his
SNITZEL magic.
On Sunday we went
Hawkesbury to visit
Gerald Ryan’s new stable complex named PLATINUM PARK which Gerald and his business partner in this new venture have just settled upon and last week, they moved some horses into the facility.
A magnificent brand new complex complete with undercover sand roll, dry walker and an 80 metre straight line swimming pool.
Situated opposite the 1500m start, horses walk straight out the back door and onto the track to do their work. Also there are some magnificent day yards that allow horses to get out of the box and their heads down for a pick for a few hours during the day, which is a great advantage for horses that have just raced or those stressful horses that do not respond well to being locked up in a box.
This will give Gerald a huge advantage with horses returning to training after a spell or for racing horses to have a change of scenery.
