Former Dean Watt syndicated galloper, Savabeel sired his 19th stakes winner at Riccarton on Sunday when 3yo filly Ray’s Girl broke through for her maiden stakes victory. Ray’s Girl now improves her record to seven starts for two wins and two placings after a commanding 2 ¾ length victory on Sunday.
Her previous start she showed she was capable of winning stakes quality races after finishing a close up second at Ellerslie in the LR Macleans Soliloquy Stakes over 1400m. The step up in distance to a mile and the good track seemed to do the trick for this promising filly as class prevailed and she went on to salute comfortably.
The win of Ray’s Girl highlights the continuing rise of Savabeel as a sire. Savabeel was a brilliant horse on the racetrack winning the Spring Champion and the Cox Plate in consecutive starts as a 3yo. He was syndicated by Dynamic’s Managing Director Dean Watt and went on to win in excess of $2.7m in prizemoney for the clients who brought in.

As a sire, he is becoming just as successful and has cemented himself as the sire to follow if you want to win a Derby or Oaks. Of the three individual Gr1 winners that he has sired, Brambles went onto win the Gr1 Queensland Derby in 2012 while Sangster won the Gr1 Victoria Derby of 2011 with Scarlett Lady winning the Gr1 Queensland Oaks in the same year.
Savabeel currently stands at Waikato Stud for a fee of NZ$35,000 and continues to do the job year after year. It seems that the more that his career goes on, the more recognised he becomes as a stallion.

Here at Dynamic we are extremely happy to see the success of Savabeel who is following in the footsteps of his high-profile father, Zabeel. In horse racing, it seems that the best sires are produced from only the best crosses and at Dynamic that is what we look for at the sales. Family history and proven crosses are going to give you as a client the best chance of winning the big races. Savabeel was originally purchased by Dean for $400,000 at the 2003 Magic Millions Yearling sale, he was bred on the proven Zabeel – Success Express which is still doing the job today. This cross has produced recent stakes winners including a Gr1 Cox Plate with Pinker Pinker, Gr2 Chairman’s Handicap victor Divine Rebel and NZ Gr2 Lady Norrie Stakes winner Lady Kipling just to name a few.
It is a rare occurrence to have a horse that is a superstar both on the track and in the breeding barn but here at Dynamic we have a history of doing just that. To get involved with Team Dynamic and secure yourself a share in a quality horse contact us on 9587 1511.
