Boom sires SEBRING & WRITTEN TYCOON were the stars and figures increased across the board on the opening night
of the 2016 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale at Morphettville.
A filly by Sebring topped Day 1 when knocked down for $230,000 and will head to Cranbourne to join the Mick Kent stable.
The purchaser said
“I thought she was the best yearling in the sale – filly of colt, the stallion is flying at the moment and she has a good pedigree behind her.”
“She’s from a Redoute’s Choice mare and he’ll be a champion broodmare sire for the ages I’d say.”
“She ticked all the boxes, she was Mick Kent’s star pick of the sale and he’s delighted to get her.”
The Sebring filly is from the Redoute’s Choice mare Aussie Crawl, a two time winning daughter of former Adelaide based group winning juvenile Freestyle.
The top priced colt of the night session was
$195,000 for the Written Tycoon-Zoccoletta youngster from the Baramul Stud who sold to McEvoy Mitchell Racing.
“He’s come off Baramul so he’s had a good start to his life,” Tony McEvoy said.
Day One of the sale rounded out with a gross of
$3,865,500 (up 65%), average price of $51,540 (up 47%) and median price of $40,000 (up 60%) – those three figures rose massively on last year’s opening session.
The clearance rate also rose on 2015 and finished on 82 per cent during a day in which
seven yearlings sold for $100,000 or more.
“It’s been the most amazing start to a sale in a very long time,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said. “The numbers are well up – around 50 per cent up already, which is just spectacular.”
“Hopefully we can hold the numbers for tomorrow and we’re really looking forward to getting into it tomorrow,” Cox added.
Day 2 of the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale will be held from 10am (SA time) on Tuesday.
Predicting the trend and desire for progeny by both SEBRING and WRITTEN TYCOON, Dynamic Syndications at previous sales this year have purchased 2 yearlings by SEBRING to be raced with GAI WATERHOUSE and a Filly by WRITTEN TYCOON to be raced with MICK PRICE.
We have a SEBRING COLT from ROCK SUCCESS and a SEBRING FILLY from VICEREINE.
We have a WRITTEN TYCOON FILLY from SPECIAL EPISODE (a 1/2 sister to FIRST SEAL).
