Only a relatively small group of yearlings met our strict buying criteria from the catalogue of the
2016 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale being conducted at Randwick.
After Days 1 and 2 Team Dynamic have added
three (3) spectacular fillies to our growing stable.
At the close of Day 2 trading, we have purchased 3 lots at this sale - taking our total to
12 yearlings for our 2016 crop.
We have purchased
lots 240, 332 and 338 for our team of owners.
Our first purchase was
lot 240 offered by Segenhoe Stud as agent.
She is by Champion young Sire SNITZEL, who continues to take all before him on the racetrack and in the sale ring.
Our new SNITZEL filly is the first foal of the mare
SEQUENTIAL MISS.
On the racetrack SEQUENTIAL MISS was placed at 3 but of far more significant importance, from both a commercially perspective and a genetic basis, she is a
1/2 sister to Gr1 winning and dual Gr3 winning filly LONE ROCK (by Fastnet Rock).
LONE ROCK won 4 races & $597,178 including the SAJC Goodwood Hcp Gr1, VRC Bobbie Lewis H., Gr3., MVRC Champagne S., Gr3., 3d MRC How Now S., Gr3., MVRC Red Anchor S., Gr3.
Our new filly is a direct descendant of wonderful mare
REIGNTAINE (4th Dam).
REIGNTAINE is a full sister to Champion Sire CENTAINE.
REIGNTAINE produced 9 winners including stakes winners GALAPAGOS GIRL and PROCRASTINATE with the latter being the dam of Champion racehorse LAISSERFAIRE, also A TIME FOR JULIA, TIME THIEF, FOREPLAY, PERSONIFY and Trephina - the dam of CENTENNIAL PARK and BALLACK.
This family is one the most commercial and highly desirable families in the Australasian Stud Book.
In this particular Classic sale, we had envisaged a price of $120,000 or more may be required to secure the filly and believed we would not be in the hunt for her under $100,000. However as is always the case in an auction, there is always the opportunity to buy well as long as you have done the due diligence work including a full vet examination with x-ray reports.
So when the bidding merry-go-round drew to a stop, we were left holding the bid at $85,000. We didn't believe the filly would be sold but rather she would be passed-in.
However
Segenhoe Stud are the ultimate professional operators and their Stud Manager Peter O'Brien was watching from behind the auctioneer’s rostrum. He was seeing the war unfold and knew it was our bid on the filly holding the call so allowed the auctioneer to meet the market and sell her. A few seconds later, the filly was knocked down to
Team Dynamic.
We were all delighted to have secured this fabulous filly. She was considered a Top Filly by our
independent bloodstock advisor Gary Mudgway, our vet Dr. John Walker and the Dynamic Duo of Dean and Adam.
Also before the sale started, Gai Waterhouse had identified a short list of 6 candidates that she would like to have in her stable and naturally, this was one of those on the list.
At this sensational price for such a wonderfully conformed filly with excellent residual value after racetrack retirement, this filly was a perfect pick-up for our team.

being an owner with GAI WATERHOUSE is pure magic.
Don't forget - GAI trained 2 Gr1 winners by the sire last Season - WANDJINA and SWEET IDEA.
