On Saturday, the filly our team
here at Dynamic Syndications have been spruiking about, ran an almighty race
when nothing went her way, still finishing runner-up in the MRC Thousand
Guineas Prelude Group 2.
Back on the 1st September the
Team at Dynamic Syndications wrote a story about the impressive
3yo filly PAYROLL (Not A Single Doubt x Workhard by Red Ransom) and how her trainer Richard Laming and connections were confident that they had a top class filly. They are aiming towards the big races in the Spring - the
Group 1 Thousand Guineas and the Group 1 VRC Oaks are in their sights and they were so impressed by their filly they were also holding a nomination for the
Cox Plate.
Since then, the lightly raced
PAYROLL kicked-off her 3yo campaign in the Cap D'Antibes Stakes (1100m), a Listed Race up the straight at Flemington. The filly contested that race as a stepping stone to bigger and better races later in the spring.
Her run in the Cap D’Antibes was on the surface disappointing however things didn’t go to plan over the short course trip and the filly lost contact with the leaders. With that run under her belt, connections didn’t alter their belief in their filly and continue with goals of her first Group One in the Thousand Guineas on the way to the VRC Oaks.
PAYROLL
On Saturday, the filly the team here at Dynamic Syndications have been spruiking, ran an almighty race when nothing went her way, finishing runner-up in the MRC Thousand Guineas Prelude Group 2.
Ridden by Jimmy Cassidy,
PAYROLL found herself stranded back and deep without cover in the first half of the race. Jimmy Cassidy realised he was in a bad spot after settling, took off wide and deep mid-race, swooping around the fields between the 700m to the 500m. The run was tough but the filly was up to the task.
PAYROLL went up to eyeball the leader and eventual winner
MISS GUNPOWDER as they ran into the straight however the leader and received a picnic in front and was able to kick 3 lengths clear but
PAYROLL ran clawed her back to a length on the post.
Whilst there was no disgrace running second to the race favourite – the winner had all the favours and a soft lead whilst the work of
PAYROLL was outstanding.
This run will see her start well in the market at the first of her main assignments on the 10th October.
As a 2yo,
PAYROLL endured a lot of travelling during her juvenile year which trainer Richard Laming said she handled well.
She enjoyed a good spell in Queensland before beginning the early stages of her preparation with Laming's trainer-father Bevan.
Payroll began her race career at Sale defeating
The Barrister, a subsequent stakes winner at Randwick during The Championships, before she was luckless in Adelaide when caught in a zip tight pocket running fifth back in March.
She was returned to Melbourne where she ran a remarkable runner-up to Black Vanquish in the
Listed Redoute’s Choice Stakes at Caulfield on April 18 before venturing up to Queensland where she finished down the track in the Sires' Produce Stakes at Doomben, a track Richard Laming said Payroll failed to negotiate first time going the opposite direction.
"She was spelled up in Queensland and when she came into work, she trialled up there (Queensland) on our straight track."
"She flew back a few weeks ago and ran at Flemington and after that the Thousand Guineas Prelude at Caulfield."
"We couldn't be happier with how she's come back," Laming said.
"She's come back bigger and stronger and has matured into a nice filly."
Payroll should press onto Flemington this Melbourne Cup Carnival and step right up in distance for a shot at the 2015 Crown Oaks this spring.
The three-year-old daughter of
Not A Single Doubt to date has had six race starts for a win on debut at Sale over 1206m back in March. Since then she has raced in five times – all in black-type races across three states.
Payroll had worked alongside stablemate Refectory over 1000m at Moonee Valley on Tuesday morning prior to the Prelude and impressed Laming with her slick gallop that included a final 400m sectional in 24.33 seconds.
Her next test is over a mile on October 10 in the $500,000 Group 1 Schweppes Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield.
After the Thousand Guineas all going well she is likely to have a charge at the $1 million Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) on the first Thursday in November.
Laming said “The Thousand Guineas is the target at this stage so we’ll head that way but I’ve got the Oaks in the back of my mind.
“She’s such a natural, big striding filly and I think she’ll definitely get the mile but there’s just something there that indicates that she might get a trip.
“She’s come back bigger and stronger, she didn’t have a hard preparation.
The Team at Dynamic Syndications congratulate Richard Laming and his group of owners for owning such a promising filly – A Magic Millions purchase for $80,000, PAYROLL is raced by:
Mrs J Laming, R J Laming, S B Laming, J R Brockmuller, C Andronis, G Kaparos, S R Wallis, R Dipierdomenico & Felgate Holdings (Mgr: P D Felgate).
Their excellent filly now has a market value of
over $500,000 still with significant upside from her racing career to come. If she was to win either the Thousand Guineas or the Oaks and you can
add an extra million dollars to the filly’s value.
The team at Dynamic Syndications are shouting and cheering her on because we have a vested interest in her racing career.
At the Magic Millions in 2015 we brought Lot 22 from Macquarie Stud – a magnificent colt by the Leading Sire SNITZEL from Workhard.
At that point of time, not even Richard Laming and the connections of
PAYROLL knew that their filly was heading on the path to potential Gr1 success. Everyone lives in hope however this filly has proved she is up to the best 3yo fillies around.
From a Dynamic point of view,
we purchased our colt from Workhard based upon his conformation, outstanding looks and terrific pedigree mating.
We are very grateful that
PAYROLL hadn’t raced by then, as we were able to secure this colt at a fantastic price. Otherwise we would never have been able to afford him.
We purchased our colt within the first hour of the first sale in 2015.
Since then we have sat back watching the prices go through the roof on
SNITZEL progeny based upon his wonderful success on the track with now 6 Gr1 Winners to his credit. His yearlings have
sold up to $2.2m and averaged over $350,000.
Our 2yo Colt being paraded at Randwick
On this premise alone, Our
SNITZEL x WORKHARD Colt, if he was to go through the sale ring today with the deeds of his three-quarter sister now common knowledge, out colt is worth
$500,000 or more.
If his three-quarter sister lands a Group 1 race –
our colt would jump to around the $1 million.
One thing we know already is that our colt is very good. When he broke-in, he was
“Dux of the Class” and has been in and out of work a few times now and
the wraps are awesome.
He is just finishing a short spell and commences training again next Monday.
He’s in the stables of the best trainer of 2yo’s in Australia and if Gai polishes him to sparkle, then we could be owning a very promising big money stallion prospect.
As at 30 September, the Dynamic Syndications team have
sold 90%.
So only 2 x 5% Shares (or 1 x 10%) remaining at $10,950 per share.
Don’t delay contacting us about this colt – if he continues showing us what he has to date, he could be a lot of fun.
This colt has a lot of Bone, Muscle and Potential - so ....,
