Watch his Kembla Win Here
Dynamic galloper SPECIFIC CHOICE will get his first opportunity at Metropolitan Saturday class after warranting a start in top company with a stunning debut win on 15 September. The son of Lonhro was ultra-impressive on debut at Kembla Grange when he gave his opponents a big start before jumping out of the ground over the final 100m to secure victory. The formlines have held up strongly out of that race with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th horses all subsequent winners from what has obviously proven to be a strong race. Tomorrow is significantly harder than his first assignment but you can only compete against what is put in front of you and to date, Specific Choice has taken everything in his stride.
He will line up on Saturday at Rosehill in the Benchmark 72 Ingham’s Love’Em Handicap over 1300m, which is a slight step up in distance from his super debut win. Specific Choice will appreciate the journey over more ground as he was hitting the line extremely well in his first start and still only getting warm. There is no doubt that there is a lot of upside to this colt who is still learning about the racing game.
The Chris Waller trained Specific Choice has since won a trial at Randwick to keep his fitness levels up and prepare him for his second race start. The ease in which he won the trial was the most pleasing aspect for all connected with Specific Choice and formed a vital a part of his on-going educational process. The step up in distance is important for the son of Lonhro who hit the line superbly and looks as if he will relish the chance to get to the 1300m as a stepping stone towards 2000m. He is bred to be a middle distance horse and every indication suggests he would relish 2000m distance races.
Specific Choice has his first chance in the Metropolitan grade
Supporters should be aware he did have a slight set back in the lead up to his second run when he developed a virus which set him back a few days however he is now primed at full health and ready to head back to the track. Although this race looks reasonable strong on paper, this will be a good test for our undefeated colt because he appears to be a genuine high quality racehorse in the making.
Specific Choice is beautifully bred by Lonhro out of the Redoute’s Choice mare, Lady of Choice. The Lonhro – Danehill cross is one of the best crosses in the Australian Stud Book having produced Gr1 winner Benfica, Gr2 winners Obsequious and Pinwheel and Gr3 winners Deer Valley and Eight Till Late among many more. It would be no surprise for us here at Dynamic to see Specific Choice continue to progress through the grades and add black type to his tally.
Tomorrow’s assignment is all part of the grand plan to get Specific Choice over more ground and to help him mature as a racehorse. He has obviously shown us his raw ability and will only improve as he gains more race experience and learns further about his craft.

Being 1300m it is still well short of his optimal distance and we are a little concerned that he is already looking for more ground as the 1300m may be a touch sharp however we expect to see a forward showing and to see him hitting the line strongly over the concluding stages.
We are delighted to have the services of top jockey Glyn Schofield and he should be able to get him balanced early back in the ruck allowing Specific Choice to finish off strongly. We anticipate Specific Choice will settle in the back half of the field where comfortable from barrier 3 and it’s our opinion he gets in extremely well on the limit with just 54kg.
The race is due to jump at 3.02pm local time and can be seen live on TVN. We wish the best of luck to all our owners in our strong and masculine colt and hope we see him show continual improvement with racing and increasing distances.
We wish all his Dynamic Team of Owners the best of luck in running.
