The General Sires list has a new leader after this weekend’s racing as Fastnet Rock has accelerated to the top of the rankings following stakes wins from Sea Siren and Super Cool. Fastnet Rock becomes the first sire this season to break the $3 million in earnings barrier marginally taking the lead over another Dynamic Sire in Commands.
It has been a big 30 days of racing for the Coolmore heavyweight who has sired a total of 26 winners in the last month. Among these victories are stakes wins from Sea Siren, Super Cool, Callanish, Hvasstan, Jolie Bay and Mosheen. This brings Fastnet Rock’s tally to a total of 42 winners for the season with nine individual stakes winners in less than three months of racing. Commands sits second overall on $2.97m in earnings for this season with 6 individual stakes victors among his 40 winners.
Fastnet Rock continues to do the job at stud
Fastnet Rock has taken the breeding world by storm over the past couple of season comfortably winning the general sires’ premiership last year. Dynamic were not about to miss the boat on this wonderful sire and managed to purchase a lovely Fastnet Rock – Jewel of the Nile filly for the bargain base price of just $80,000 at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sales earlier this year. Considering that Fastnet Rock now stands at Coolmore Australia for a breathtaking $220,000, we were extremely pleased to secure our filly at such a good price.
Al Julhara as she has since been named broke in brilliantly and begun her work in the stables of Gerald Ryan who is pleased with her progress to date. It is no surprise to us that she looks to have some ability as it is rare to see Fastnet Rock sire a horse that isn’t a runner. Among his progeny we have seen a total of 10 Gr1 winners, 6 of whom are fillies or mares. With over $35m in stakes earnings in just four full crops to race, we are excited about the prospects of our filly going forward.
Al Julhara is showing good early signs
Commands, who sits second on the General Sires premiership, is within a whisker of hitting the $3m barrier and hot on the heels of Fastnet Rock. The multiple champion sire has been a model of consistency since we saw his first group of foals in 2001. In this time he has sired a total of 50 stakes winners with over $61m in prizemoney for his progeny. He has the impressive strike rate of 71.2% runners to winners and has started the 2012-13 season off in emphatic style producing 2 individual Gr1 winners.
Commands is among the sires that the team here at Dynamic have great respect for and make sure that his progeny is inspected closely come sale time. This year we found a cracking Commands filly out of Kiwi mare Making Fey. Not only is she from what is widely regarded as the best family in the New Zealand stud book with an unbeatable rating of A+++ but the mare, Making Fey has produced 5 horses to race for 5 winners including Gr1 winning 2yo Apercu.

Currently she is undergoing pre-training after already successfully completing her initial education process under the watchful eye of expert horseman, Shane Rose. She is due to head to the stables of Chris Waller in the coming weeks for an introduction to his stable in what can be described as an orientation to racing life.
Dynamic only purchase horses that are by the best sires as is indicated by our record that we have built over the last seven years. Overall we retain an incredible strike rate of more than 85% Runners : Winners ratio and 96% Runners : Prizemoney Earners ratio. Considering the high volume of horses we purchase, this is unmatched in our industry and we are extremely proud of our achievements to date.
