Two outstanding wins by progeny of
Australia’s Leading Second Crop Sire FOXWEDGE certainly caught the eye of leading judges after sensational wins over the past few days.
On Saturday at Kembla, the Nick Olive trained
FOX TALES (FOXWEDGE from ANGEL OF AVALON) made it a one act affair when he blitzed his rivals over 1200m scoring eased down by 2.3 lengths in a slick 1:10.36 and despite being eased down, he still posted a sizzling 33.64 for his last 600m.
That was
FOX TALES 4th career start for the 3yo gelding who has recorded
3 wins and 1 third.
There is little doubt that
FOX TALES is a lot better than average. Placed to advantage by the stable, there is a nice race or two in store for FOX TALES this time in.
Then on Monday afternoon, the Robbie Griffiths trained
TERINDAH (by FOXWEDGE from TOAST OF THE COAST) won by
5 lengths as a $1.35 favourite when scoring at Kilmore. Despite being a Heavy 9 surface and jumping from barrier 1,
TERINDAH never looked in danger and at the 200m jockey Jye McNeil gave the horse a flick and he exploded away before being eased down with 50m to run.
The 3yo Colt is
well above average. This was just his second career start and his first this preparation. On debut he put in a terrific run when
4th in the Debutant Stakes LR over 1,000m in October 2015. Put away for almost 12 months after that and resuming in this event, the stable are now looking towards having a crack at the
BLUE SAPPHIRE as his next assignment.
The win by both these
FOXWEDGE’s come on the back of a
winning double in the UK for the sire in the past 7 days.
Both fillies,
URBAN FOX recorded her 3rd win in 7 starts and has already been Group 3 placed.
MELISSA JANE won a six furlong maiden at Chelmsford.
Both fillies are heading towards black type events.
It was only a fortnight ago FOXWEDGE’s filly
FOXPLAY dug deep to win the
Gr2 ATC Tea Rose Stakes.
FOXWEDGE simply can’t do any more as he keeps his position at the TOP of the Australian Second Season Sires List ahead of Smart Missile, Dream Ahead, So You Think, Zoffany, etc.
Dynamic Syndications have always held the opinion the FOXWEDGE progeny would make into outstanding 3yo sprinters and this certainly looks to be the case. We have 2 with Gai Waterhouse that have shown plenty to date and we are excitedly looking forward to see these fillies at the track as well.
