First Impressions a New Zealand bred daughter of high quality stallion
RIP VAN WINKLE won the
Group 3 WATC Oaks at Ascot on Saturday as she excelled at the
2400 metres.
She stormed home to win her first Black Type event by just on 2 lengths.
The talented filly has done a few things wrong in recent starts but put everything together for this
eye catching performance, her third win from seven starts.
A $270,000 NZB Premier purchase, First Impressions was the most expensive filly from the first Southern Hemisphere bred crop of yearlings for Rip Van Winkle, a Group 1 winning son of Galileo that shuttled to Windsor Park Stud from Coolmore.
She is the first winner for her dam Striker, a stakes-winning sibling to Gr1 winner Calveen and Group winners Kosi Bay and Fireworks.
First Impressions is now the eighth Stakes Winner and the first Australian stakes-winner and for RIP VAN WINKLE.
