Outstanding Newcastle based young trainer
Darren Smith and Dynamic Syndications boss
Dean Watt have been good friends for over 20 years, so when Dean Watt launched Dynamic Syndications just over seven years ago, it was obvious that Darren would become a central team member in the overall plans for Dynamic Syndications.
On Saturday at Rosehill, Dynamic galloper
EXCELLENT POINT trained by Darren Smith and ridden by Nash Rawiller, was outstanding when in a determined and bruising old fashioned dog fight, went onto record a gutsy win in Race 3 the
Metro Hotels BM80 Hcp over 1200m.
This win was the
84th race win that Darren Smith has trained for Dean Watt's Dynamic Syndications. To call the pair a
“Dynamic Duo” is certainly an under statement.
A Happy NASH RAWILLER returns on Excellent Point
Fiona Watt gives Excellent Point a deserved "well done pat"
EXCELLENT POINT recorded his
5th win from 31 starts and with
10 minor placings, took his earnings to
$169,500.
Without doubt this is one of the most deserved metropolitan wins in racing. This horse has been so unlucky on so many occasions. Excellent Point's owners are some of the nicest people in racing and their journey to the winner's circle is most deserved.
Trainer Darren Smith
Nash Rawiller being interviewed by Richard Callendar TVN
Darren Smith presented the horse to the races in outstanding condition and was easily the pick of the yard in the parade.
At the previous start, Excellent Point was the best of good things beaten when the young apprentice "got lost in transit" and the horse recorded the second fastest last 600m of the day yet went to the line untested to be beaten 2.7 lens.
Within 24 hours of that race, we had identified his next race as the perfect assignment and Nash Rawiller was booked.
Nash rode Excellent Point magnificently and the horse provided Nash with the 3rd leg of 4 winners in a row on the day.
Excellent Point jumped away equally in the competitive field but after 100m, had been shuffled back on the field towards the rear, after receiving interference early.
Apprentice Sam Clipperton, rider of The Gallows (Darren Smith's other runner in the race), was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in near the 1100m, crowding Bardiya in upon Excellent Point.
300m later, Excellent Point, which was commencing to improve inside Dublette, was briefly tightened leaving the 800m.
This resulted in Nash being forced to restrain Excellent Point at the rear and stuck on the fence, in the inferior, rain affected ground. Whilst this was happening, the heavily backed favourite Mount Nebo, was dictating the tempo up front with a clear advantage and a 1.5kg pull in the weights.
Excellent Point was spotting the leader 6 lengths, weight and stuck on the fence in slower ground but it didn’t matter. Whilst Nash waited until he had our horse balanced, he only revved up Excellent Point at the 250m. As he urged Excellent Point along, the horse quickly picked up the bit and charged to the post, winding in the leaders with every bound.
Excellent Point being forced into the rail by Mount Nebo (B Avdulla) on his outside
Look where his nose is !
His strength and superior finishing speed saw Excellent Point gain the upper hand with 50 metres to run.
Having gained the upper hand, inexplicably jockey Brenton Avdulla, rider of Mount Nebo, permitted his mount to shift in several horses over the final 30 metres, crowding Excellent Point onto the running rail which buckled and swayed as if it would snap. How our horse was not brought down by these actions was a miracle.
Brenton Avdulla received a reprimand from the stewards for his actions. There is little doubt that had Excellent Point not been first passed the post, he would have clearly won the race in the stewards room.
To see the excitement on the faces of our owners present was such an exhilarating response for us and highlights the reason why we do, what we do, at Dynamic Syndications.
Nash returned Excellent Point to the winner's stall to the raptures of applause from excited owners and appreciative punters.
Nash reported to us that "the horse went super".
“It was a gutsy win and a real dog fight” Nash said. “the way he finished that off he gives him the feel he would be strong over 1400m and give him a try, he could knock off something a bit better than this’.
Nash had ridden a perfect race and despite the three separate interferences in the run, the horse was too classy, too strong, too good !
Excellent Point, thanks to the skill and horsemanship of trainer Darren Smith, delivered Team Dynamic with our
343rd win in just over
7 years.
Further, it was Dynamic Syndications
