Promising young Coolmore shuttler
Excelebration (IRE) produced two new winners in the past two days in the Northern hemisphere with Costa Esmeralda trained by Wesley Ward winning easily in the USA, while in the UK at Goodwood, the Mick Channon trained Tara Celeb kicked off her career with a gutsy win.
Excelebration
Costa Esmeralda was narrowly beaten on debut in June and was sent out favourite for the 1100m turf maiden at Ellis Park. She won as a good thing should when she cruised around and won by over 4 lengths.
Tara Celeb was slowly away in her 1200m maiden, but recovered to win by a neck in what was described as a good, tough performance.
A high class three time Group 1 winning miler by Australia’s Champion Sire Exceed and Excel, Excelebration in any other ear would have won 6 Group 1 events however he had to settle for 3 second placings to that equine freak known as Frankle.
The saving grace of running second to Frankle is that no other horse beat “the freak” and Excelebration was the only horse to truly trouble Frankle in a race.
Excelebration is anticipated to produce 3yo miler types the way he is bred and the way he raced so to have now had
eight first crop winners in the Northern Hemisphere and a further
11 placegetters, Excelebration is excelling and by far exceeding early expectations.
His first Australian runners have
just turned two year-olds and he is back at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $13,750.
Dynamic Syndications purchased the most expensive yearling filly by Excelebration from the quality race mare Nuclear Force at the 2016 yearling sales. We got what we paid for - a stunner !
Our EXCELEBRATION x NUCLEAR FORCE filly
It appears to be a wise investment. At the time we purchased her she had an unraced older 3/4 brother who has since stepped out and has become his own headline horse.
His name is
DEFCON and he had an outstanding juvenile season when capturing the
Gr3 Black Opal and ran second in the Group 2 ATC Silver Slipper and Group 3 ATC Canonbury Stakes before pulling up distressed with shin soreness in the Golden Slipper.
He has kicked off his 3yo season in brilliant fashion capturing last weekend’s
Gr3 McNeil Stakes at Caulfield. Defcon ran his last 600m in 34.66 and his last 200m in 11.53 and his connections are now stating they have Group 1 targets in mind for the strong son of Choisir.
Both Choisir and Excelebration are
Grand-sons of the immortal Danehill. Choisir is a son of Danehill Dancer (by Danehill) whilst Excelebration is a son of Exceed And Excel (by Danehill).
Our 2yo filly is in the care of Hall Of Fame trainer GAI WATERHOUSE.
We are naturally excited about the prospects of our filly during her 2yo and 3yo seasons.
