Darren Smith and Dynamic Syndications combined again on Tuesday afternoon recording our 51st win together as a team and Dynamic Syndications recorded our 68th win of the 2011 Calendar Year and Dynamic's 27th win for the Current 2011-12 Racing Season when well bred mare Chomp (Flying Spur / Bouchette) bolted in to scored a very soft 2.8 length win at Tamworth.
Chomp won the Firequip Class 2 Handicap 1200m being a field of 12 runners by 2.8 lengths x 1.3 lengths eased down in a slick 1:09.51 secs.
Chomp was only a Class 1 mare taking on a Class 2 field but still gave weight to all bar one runner including the runner up whom was second favourite a gelding Emperor Gaze to whom she had to give 2.0kgs.
Chomp has a career record of 14 starts: 2 wins, 1 second, 2 thirds.
This preparation she has run 4th, 6th, 2nd and now 1st and judging by the ease of this win against a handy field there are a few more in store for the mare.
Young apprentice Blake Spriggs went to Tamworth to ride for Team Dynamic and got the job done with ease. Blake also ran second on our other runner Gallant Spur at the meeting.
Chomp was a bit tardy at the start and missed the kick half a length after being loaded very early and then barrier incidents meant the mare was locked in the barriers a very long time. However Blake drove the mare forward from the tail to settle 3 pairs back from the speed about 6 lengths off the leaders where she stayed until just before the turn.
Realising he had a lap full of horse under him, Blake allowed Chomp to roll forward around the leaders despite being deep but just kept her balanced until straightening where the mare then quickly extended under hands and heels to round up the leaders. At the 150m Chomp was in no danger and had the field well covered so Blake let her have some rein and the mare bounded away to gap them by just on 3 lengths.
It was a great experience for all our owners to watch their mare in total control. This syndicate is a terrific group of people and one of the best we have the opportunity to put together and is a real VIP "who's who". We are delighted for all of the team:
- Mrs A Edwards
- G Macdonald
- M Chiverton
- Mrs K Hornhardt
Chomp looked in fabulous condition at the track and was a standout in the parade ring. She was the only horse the punters wanted to back and they got it spot on.
Finally, we would like to thank our Dynamic Syndications representative at this Tamworth meeting, Miss Amy Stevenson and her guests, for representing the Dynamic team so professionally on the day.
