The full brother to our own Encosta De Lago – Miss Helga filly, Liberator, has finished an impressive 2nd overnight in the Group 3 Queen Mother Memorial Cup in Hong Kong.
Although the race did not pan out as planned for Hong Kong based and Dynamic rider, Tim Clark, he was still able to get the horse to finish 2nd behind eventual winner, Dominant.
Liberator, who was ridden 2 lbs over his allocated weight, ended up being 3 and 4 wide coming around the first bend due to some unexpected moves from his other competitors.
Clark, to his credit, saw there was no pace in the race and was able to whip around the field to take the lead before ended up on the rails 3rd for much of the journey.
Liberator then powered to the lead at the top of the straight before being headed by eventual winner, Dominant, who together with Liberator, gapped the field and hit the line better than anything.
Full brother to our Miss Helga Filly, Liberator is now stakes placed
This was an extremely positive run for Liberator who has now won just shy of A$500,000 and looks as if he will step up in distance with “group glory” seemingly right around the corner.
Trainer, David Ferraris believes the horse is a superstar in the making and had absolutely no luck in his 2 previous Group 1 starts in the Hong Kong Classic Cup and the Hong Kong Derby.
Group 1 victories are hard to come by in racing however with an outstanding pedigree like this 4yo gelding has (the same pedigree as our filly) and a little bit of luck, it would be no surprise to see Liberator standing atop of the podium.
This is also a brilliant result for team Dynamic and their own Encosta De Lago – Miss Helga filly who is continuing to increase in value now that it is a full sister to a Stakes placed horse.
Encosta De Lago x Miss Helga filly - Full sister to Liberator
We managed to snatch up this classy filly for just $125,000 in April however with the performance of Liberator over the last month, this figure would undoubtedly be much higher today.
Chris Waller has had a better run then almost anybody over the past 5 season, especially with staying types, and put his hand up to train this stunning individual.
We are currently syndicating this horse for just $10,750 for a 5% share and $21,500 for a 10% share with all costs inclusive up to the 31st of July.
