Over the weekend ENCOSTA DE LAGO had 2 Group 1 Winners. DELAGO DELUXE won another Gr1 event in South Africa whilst LIBERATOR won a Gr1 race in Hong Kong. Both have significant influence upon Dynamic Syndications because of how it impacts on our super yearling filly we purchased at the Easter Sales by ENCOSTA DE LAGO from MISS HELGA (IRE).
DELAGO DELUXE was last season's Champion 2yo in South Africa and on Saturday he won another Gr1 event, the Golden Horse Casino Sprint at Scotsville. Apart from being another Gr1 win to ENCOSTA DE LAGO, it's far more important than that. This is bred on the incredibly successful ENCOSTA DE LAGO / NORTHERN DANCER cross. This is the same extended cross as our filly has been bred upon.
DELAGO DELUXE
Whilst this is fantastic and reinforces the success of the cross, it's the LIBERATOR win that was incredibly important to DYNAMIC.

LIBERATOR
The thoroughbred industry is amazing. Opportunities present themselves and can be life changing. Risk for Reward or to coin a phrase: "Reward For Effort".
What can be the most satisfying aspect of this industry is that regularly, Due Diligence is rewarded with significant financial gain. Yet another example of this was on display on Sunday evening at 6:05pm local time (4:05pm in Hong Kong), because right then and for the next 2 minutes 30 secs, Dynamic Syndications hit the jackpot.
LIBERATOR won the Standard & Charted CHAMPIONS & CHARTER CUP - A feature Gr1 Weight For Age 2400m race at Sha Tin.
At the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sales, Dean Watt and his Dynamic Syndications Team had identified Lot 286 as a genetic mating we would like to own and syndicate to our owners giving them an opportunity to achieve a high quality racehorse.
Basically we knew that genetically, ENCOSTA DE LAGO when mated over a mare by ALZAO (Fairy King - Northern Dancer line (A+++)) has a far greater opportunity to produce a Stakes Class racehorse than a mating by almost all other sires.
COOLMORE STUD were aware of this statistical and genetic fact too. So in 2005 the team at COOLMORE purchased in Ireland a Stakes Winning 2yo filly named MISS HELGA from a high quality international pedigree. They knew she was special and brought her to Australia to be mated specifically with ENCOSTA DE LAGO.
Dynamic purchased MISS HELGA'S 5th foal - a daughter of ENCOSTA DE LAGO for $125,000 + GST. Her previous foals sold for $625,000, $200,000, $360,000 and $140,000.
MISS HELGA has only been bred to ENCOSTA.
To date, she has had 2 foals to race.
The first was the quality race filly PINK SIRIS - A Melbourne Winner of 2 races and was Stakes Placed 2nd in a Listed Race.
The second is now a Gr1 winner & Gr3 placed - LIBERATOR.
What is really satisfying, we believed the mating cross to be exceptional. However when we purchased our filly in early April, LIBERATOR had won 3 races.
Not leaving any stone unturned, when we inspected the filly and thought she was a worthy individual to purchase, based upon excellent conformation and also she had passed clean on x-ray, we then made inquiries prior to the purchase to our friendly contact in HK to find out what they thought of the full brother. They came back saying he was way above average and would win a high class event. The mail proved ultimately to be spot on. This gave me more confidence that this was a filly I should get, (if possible) as the opportunity of the family improving was significant.
OUR FILLY
COOLMORE STUD boys were also bullishly confident that LIBERATOR was on the way up.
Since the day we purchased the filly, things have certainly gone our way with LIBERATOR.
OUR FILLY - ENCOSTA DE LAGO / MISS HELGA - Full Sister to Gr1 Winner LIBERATOR
The horse has run 3 times since we purchase his Full Sister. At his first run, he won over 1600m. Then he was the best of good things beaten when a desperately unlucky 2nd in the Gr3 Queen Mother's Coronation Cup 2000m. So at that stage the mare now had 2 runners both Stakes Performers.
We dared to live the dream that our "mail man" was right - and so it proved to be ! LIBERATOR is now a Gr1 winner and Gr3 placed - A winner of 5 races and $7,769,700 HKD prizemoney.
To give a further explanation of the class and grade of this Gr1 WFA race, 1 of the runners he beat home in this event have previously gone on to contest the Melbourne Cup in Mr Medici. Whilst Dominant had won the Gr3 Queen Mother's Cup last start and HK pin up horse Ambitious Dragon was the favourite but was well beaten.
This win has now made our filly worth far more than what we paid for her at auction just as a broodmare when she retires.
Just imagine the commercial value of the foals our filly will produce to the Hong Kong market in the years to come !
Let alone if she can run up to our own expectations being the reason we purchased her. She has the conformation and pedigree to be a success. Now the cross is proven. The future is incredible strong for this filly.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate HK Trainer David Ferraris and his loyal team of owners who race LIBERATOR. The 4yo gelding has given them a wonderful ride to date with hopefully this being the start of a magnificent ongoing Black Type portfolio being built.
We also congratulate, Tom Magnier, Michael Kirwin, Peter O'Brien and all the team at COOLMORE for their foresight in buying and only mating MISS HELGA to ENCOSTA DE LAGO and also Michael Kirwin and Colm Santry for their pre-sale advice and information about LIBERATOR.
Should Dynamic Syndications now continue with our original thoughts of syndicating the filly her (our) owners will own a magnificent racing prospect and a true foundation broodmare that will be in the highest demand from the commercial stud operators. Mated correctly, even if our filly was not a top flight racehorse, her foals will average huge money. Such will be the demand for her first 5-6 foals, she will become to her owners the equivalent to a personal money press.
Dynamic Syndications have also received several inquiries prior to Sunday's race so now he has won, we will also consider offers to buy the filly outright.
